no I'm not at all. I previously said it was very rare. You are undervaluing the difficulty of going 29-1.
You are undervaluing the difficulty of going 29-1.
we win those games they don't. There's a difference. Whether it's 1,2,23 or 41 we have won those games.I dont. We could be Ohio State...they are like us but lose the close ones
That said, I am not convinced that close games that you pull out...are as important as 20 point wins over weak conference opponents. I mean anyone that thought we would beat Yukon by 30 just doesnt understand college basketball that well.
maybe i missed a post, but i don't see any 8-10 loss predictions, let alone "others". and making a valid reason why the tam would go 25-6 or 25-5 isn't harping on negatives. people explained why they didn't think 29-2 was realistic. so again, i guess the predictions have to be undefeated or people are harping on negatives or are doom and gloomers.
Why? This kind of post, and a couple others, serve no purpose. So not everyone thought we would be 29-2. Most everyone had us in the 3-6 loss range and gave valid reasons why. So now those people have to eat crow? Or be called "the doom and gloom contingent"? What did you predict for SU's record? The poster that generalized and called people doom and gloomers, had us with as many as 5 losses. Is he then himself a doom and gloomer? SU has exceeded the expectation of MOST people, that is a great thing, not a bad thing. It's not like people were predicting SU to be a NIT team. I guess what a few of you would like is for everyone to predict SU will go undefeated every year.
I didn't have to take any xanax either.lol
I'll give you credit. I was wrong. You nailed it. I don't think I was off base though about how difficult it is for us to beat UL and PU, plus Conn in Storrs on Gameday. Those are incredible wins and all of them could have gone the other way. I am not super confident at all about our next game (so I would say there is a good chance you'll be exactly right at 29-2). I've said in many other places, we just have no reason to feel confident against UL or PU. Not for a few years of consistent winning against them.
No, I think the doom and gloom comes from the people who jumped down his throat and called him crazy or that he jumped the shark or some of the things that people say about those who are optimistic.
I can't think of anything else in my life where optimism is so frowned upon as it is with some people here.

nit picker lol
N.I.T. picker. Fixed. No that would be WVU, Seton Hall on maybe UConn...
BTW, Bees is the biggest Negatoid I've ever met.
lol, go find Doc Brown. He might be able to help.![]()
Thats silly. Most of the years we've lost to pitt and louisville theyve had better teams than us (2010 being the exception). We have the better team this year, we've already beat both of them. How can you NOT feel confident going into saturday? You really think losing twice to them in 2010 has any bearing on this game? If we happen to play pitt in the BET you think we'd lose?
And they have a "dude" don't they?I dont. We could be Ohio State...they are like us but lose the close ones

Old Dominion and Georgetown. A buzzer tip-in and and a 90% foul shooter miss of a front end one-and-one away from a *zero* loss regular season.I was talking about Syracuse. SU has only had one, 2-loss regular season - that was the 1979-80 season.
This thread really brought out the wildly optimistic.
Posters who suggest we could have as many as 6 losses (25 - 6) are being dismissed out-of-hand.
Are you guys all new to college basketball? Did you watch SU last season? It's mind-boggling.
There is NO CHANCE a team with Scoop and Triche at the guard position is going to lose only two games. They are too inconsistent, too careless, too eratic. So far, when one has been awful, the other has bailed us out. But there are going to be nights when they both stink up the gym.
And there are going to be nights when opponents shoot the lights out.
29 and 2? Scoffing at 25 - 6?
It's amazing what early season euphoria can do to otherwise rational ppeople.
It's not just SU, most teams have the What losses. Don't know why everyone wants to raise expectations to the stratosphere, when you do that it usually precedes a disappointing season. I'll call one lose OOC to either Marshall or NC St. and 12-6 in the BE, so we'll have seven losses going into the BET. Then if I'm wrong and we only have four losses heading into the BET, I'll be happy as and you bozos predicting 2-3 losses will be crying about how JB can't coach and Scoop can't play.
