Amazing amount of losses and injuries thus far and off

I am optimistic that we haven't had significant year-ending injuries to actual starters.

That is always a good thing.

Boatman would not have started, but although I might be wrong, I thought at some point prior to him being done, he was listed as a starter.

True. He wasn't going to start over Bromley though, which was his natural position, or Crume.

A good thing but it ain't over just yet.Losing Barrett and Curtis hurts this and next year especially if oug doesn't bring in additional O-line candidates unless one of the huge DL kids is switched over. I hope that doesn't have to be done.

losing Barrett does not hurt this year, next year or any other year - it frees up a scholarship

Clearly, football is violent and players do get injured. But, I watched a coach-turned-commentator the other day, who said that you can't have no contact in preseason, but that you want to limit it as much as possible. My question is: Does Marrone overdo contact?

I don't know this answer, but it seems to me that preseason camp is much less contact and intense than it used to be. The NCAA has rules on how many full pads practices you can have, and I think that's decreased even from the 90s. I also remember that 2 a days used to be more of a norm. We only had them twice this whole camp.

When I looked at our practice schedule, my only concern was that it seemed like there were no days off. Even for travel to/from Fort Drum. I think we practiced every single day until today right? Is that the norm? Or did others start their camps, say 2 days earlier, and take a couple days off?

I remember when our injuries happened because our players were too fat and relied too much on thud practices...:noidea:

Not saying Boatman was end all be all and think the rest of the group looks great, but he clearly played well last year and would have bene in the mix if not starting over Crume. If Raymon can ply this year, they are just fine at DT and Bromley is a future NFL player.

Just making an observation that there seems to be a rash of bad luck w/ injuries or something out of whack with training? I assume it's bad luck, and this does happen everywhere to some degree. Probably exaggerated for us as we are still trying to get the #'s and depth we need. Not Debbie Downer, just asking the question. This happened at Nebraska a number of years back and they switched up the whole training program to help with "lower body injuries", it worked or they just had better luck.

If anyone wants to do some research and PROVE that SU has some kind of abnormal amount of injuries, please do so.

Otherwise I'll continue to believe that this kind of stuff happens to every program, every year, and we only notice it because we follow SU like lunatics and no one else nearly as close.
