...Elana Meyers Taylor won Monobob (single person in bobsled) at the Olympics tonight. She's 41 years old and the mother of two special needs sons (they are both deaf), and this is the FIFTH Olympics at which she has been pursuing the gold. There is a moral here.

That was streaming along the bottom of ESPN during the game. And yes this is a good story as is the young male figure skater who lost both of his parents in the Potomac plane crash and was just so happy to be an "Olympian".

Great Story. As is the fact that 40 year old Humphries won the bronze.

I've watched a bunch of the Olympics on Peacock this year, where they show entire events, and what has really struck me is how thrilled so many of the athletes are just to have competed.

On the networks, success, or failure, is determined primarily by medalling, not by competing.

I was watching the slalom yesterday and there were skiers that were 4,5 & 6 minutes behind the leaders and were acting like they had won the World Cup when they completed their run.

Pretty cool to watch.
