White basically said that many of this years players lack emotion. That the team is made up more of introverts than emotional types.
It is so evident that we lack fire. We play with zero emotion. Gillion and to a lesser extent Lydon have some. The rest of the guys are literally zombies out there. Good or bad play they show nothing.
Last year we had three off the chart energy guys on Gib, Coon Dog, and Malachi gunner. Those guys had a passion for the game. They played their asses off played with heart and their teammates and fans fed off it.
Anyone who has ever played on a team knows that heart and emotion is as important as talent. It is the key to success.
This years team has talent but they dont have ❤.

If I were his coach, I'd tell him to keep his damn mouth shut and get to work helping to build chemistry. He just placed the blame on 'the zombies'. He needs to look at himself in the mirror. He's a real part of the problem.

He took the blame. Listening to him was disturbing. He said that good or bad he pretty much feels the same which is indicative of a lack of leadership. To borrow an old line from the military. You wouldn't want to be in a foxhole with these guys.

Thank you for the correction. I think White wants to be a leader, but he doesn't have the cred with the SU guys. I don't know what Jim is going to do...this is really, really bad.

thats exactly what i said. this is a collection of individuals who believe they r great. no heart whatsoever. its gotta be hard for lydon. coleman and dare i say roberson and the walkons. i suspect there is a great deal of conflict within this group, and there is no "team"i would not want to be in the locker room. tt has the potential to step up, maybe next year

It is bad because its an inner thing not so much coaching. I played beyond my skill level because i truly loved basketball and couldn't stand losing and was fortunate to play with other guys who also had a passion for the game. Going back to the Roys runt years we have always had great leadership and guys who played with heart.
The Lee brothers were the first i can remember.
Recently Scoop comes to mind. Played beyond his talent level because of his passion.
Devo huge energy
Coon giant ❤
and Malachi was a natural leader.

Try to pick 1 kid from this team with anything close to that drive.

I dont know where you get your impression of zombies, but the ones I've seen have incredible sticktoitiveness and really do well as a team. No individual zombie is much of a threat but they play with such a gang mentality that they can often overcome more talented (and not undead) competition. If we played like zombies we'd be top five.

I think Thompson has heart.

You can tell he gets really pissed at himself when he messes up, especially if it's a dumb mistake like a couple of those fouls yesterday (aside from the last one).

I also saw him jumping off the bench yesterday cheering on the team when he was in foul trouble. Everyone else was just sitting there.

I think he probably does keep some of it in on the court when it comes to the other players - perhaps he doesn't feel it's his place yet as a freshman. I don't know.

I have to keep the faith. I know my Raiders are going to yank that dollar bill-on-a-string away from me early in the playoffs.

Ill take talent over emotion, 365/24/7. Just me I guess.. They aren't playing well but I don't think emotion has much to do with it, they lack emotion because losing sucks and it's contagious. Now, if you wanted to make a case for no leadership I would buy that more than emotion. The kid from Duke who trips kids like a 12 year old on the playground, plays with emotion but he's an idiot nonetheless

G and Malachi were NBA draft picks regardless of emotion.

White averaged 16ppg on a terrible Nebraska team that cared more about inidivdual stats and less about winning. This team has no leaders - just because you're a senior does not automatically make you a leader. I think the guys most capable of doing it are Lydon and TT. A big part of our season last year was the leadership of Cooney and G. Despite the lack of talent and depth, we made a run to the Final 4.

You think this team could comeback from a double digit 2nd half deficit against a team like UVA? They seem to fold once an ounce of adversity hits - they've done it in every loss this year, none more alarming than last night. To me that points to lack of leadership - and JB has blame in this, but the players have to play and there's no one to lead them or pull them together when things are trending downward.

Remember the St. John's game last year? They were CRUSHING us - but we fought back in the 2nd half and made it respectable. Exact same thing last night except last night they folded. Leadership.

Watching White here I am shocked that he put up numbers in the Big 10. As mentioned in a post above - that was either a team of stat counters or his game has regressed tremendously. In our small sample size I see an average athlete who is a streak shooter with no game off the bounce, and who can't or won't rebound in traffic, and he has no idea how to play in the zone. As complicated as JB and the commentators make it, bottom line is it's basketball and instincts and experience smooth out that learning curve on where to be. He is woeful on D.
