Garrett Reid 29

Here endth the lesson, attend to your closest, and then worry about the rest.

We all have to live that every day, it dosen't matter what denomination/sect/church you belong to.

Once your kids get past a certain age, the ring is as much a curse as a blessing.

always had a problem commenting on some ones trajody, other than god be with you,and us all. at some point we may all be there---and need everyones help.god believing or not--the final word imho--is---the golden rule

Andy can't be too broken up. He is coaching this Thursday night.

actually according to the owner Andy is possibly going back to work tomorrow. I'm sorry, that's odd! Very odd!

No. Castillo and Mornhinweg are running practices. Reid has his detractors, and, as an Iggles' fan, he frustrates me more than a little. But he is incredibly stoic, and, say what you will, his players love him. I feel terrible for him and his family. His son had struggled with the demons for quite some time, and Andy was trying to help him channel his life away from them.

At some point, it's out of your hands. Give the guy a bleeping break, and let him grieve in his own way.

Philly's owner said Andy might be back at practice coaching tomorrow.

It's a sad story don't get me wrong. But if he is back at all this week I find it odd, let alone if he is back tomorrow or Tuesday. Sorry. Just the way I feel.

My daughter was at soccer camp sat Lehigh this week. Today was the last day. She said word traveled quick on the campus about the death. What a sad situation.

I don't quite understand what you said here. Are you implying that Garrett killed himself because of Andy Reid's career and family choices?

If no, I don't know what you meant and you can disregard the following:

If yes, that's a pretty bold statement unless you are very close to the Reid family and know the ins and outs of what went on.

Everyone likes to think that things like this could never happen to them. If you have kids, drug use and suicide are frightening thoughts, because you really don't know how things will go in their lives and you can only influence so much. A lot is up to chance. Anyone who doubts this need only attend a high school reunion.

I've known 3 people who have killed themselves. None of their situations were similar in any way, including the closeness of family. All were tragic to family and friends.

Pondering parental relationships is fine in such cases, but judgment should be withheld, at least until you've "walked a mile.."

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Favre play the week after his father died? Sometimes people need to take their mind off the situation and get back to where they can have comfort. Some people grieve differently than others. Not sure it's your place to pass judgement.

BIG DIFFERENCE! Having a father die who is in his 60's or 70's and putting your 29 year old son in the ground are 2 very different things.

And this is America. All we do is pass judgment everyday on celebrities. We pass judgment on the Jackson family, the Lohan family, the PATERNO family,...the list is endless of the people we pass judgment on. Now the Reid family made the list.

So, I guess it's the right thing to do then?

You are twisting things. The point is people are going to comment and have opinions on pop culture news, sports news, and all current events in general. You can't stop people from having opinions and voicing them on such matters. Especially on "internet message boards" of all places! This is still America!

I don't think I'm twisting anything. I'm not arguing that people don't have the right to comment, but since this is America, we also still have the right to tell people what they say isn't appropriate. And, opinions are like a$$holes...

sometimes its better to remain quiet and be thought the fool, rather than open your mouth (or in this case type) and remove all doubt.

heres my opinion...

get off your high flukin horse and shutup.

as you were.

Oh Lord

I love the "This is still America" argument justifying saying whatever people want, no matter how idiotic. Your original comment was "Andy must not be too broken up." What a thing to say. Just because we can say anything we want doesn't mean we should.

English, man!

I stand by my comment. Joe Philbin's son died during the NFL playoffs this year and he even took a week off from coaching (during the playoffs). All Joe did was show up on gameday and watch the game in the owners box or the coaches box like a fan and he did nothing. Andy Reid is refusing to miss a preseason game and only is willing to miss a couple days. It's the friggin preseason! Like I said its odd and sorry as I said earlier, he must not be too broken up. It's odd behavior and maybe that odd behavior is tied into why his son is dead at 29. The "home life" might not have been so great which forced this kid into the "lifestyle" he was in. Seems to me priorities are a little screwed up in the Reid household. Just an opinion. Obviously you disagree and are entitled too.

And me commenting on this is no different than anyone here commenting on the Paterno family or anything PSU related. It's all the same, commenting on the actions of someone famous or a famous family and their actions. So stay off the high horses!

Incorrect. Philbin coached in the playoff game. And, btw, he always sat in a luxury box for the games. He was the OC for the Packers but did not call the plays (McCarthy does). Philbin was responsible for making in-game strategic adjustments.
