Andy Reid's son found dead at Eagles' camp

Incorrect. Philbin coached in the playoff game. And, btw, he always sat in a luxury box for the games. He was the OC for the Packers but did not call the plays (McCarthy does). Philbin was responsible for making in-game strategic adjustments.

Joe Philbin always coached from the luxury box? LOL, uh ok! Sure...

Philbin didn't coach the headline is misleading. He didn't do any coaching that week, his "duties" were split up among the assistants and was away from the team the entire time. He showed up game day and just watched the game like a fan. He had no say on the gameplan, didn't talk with any players about the game or anything of the sort.

The story even says such..It says Philbin was away from the team since the day his son vanished and then this..On Saturday, CBS Sports' Lesley Visser said she spoke with Packers coach Mike McCarthy, who told Visser that Philbin would be in attendance Sunday.

This IS the link you want with the quote that says the REAL STORY...http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/giants/mccarthy_tragedy_won_affect_playoff_6rNfV6DVpUlqWHHrNnleiL
McCarthy calls the Packers’ plays, so Philbin’s absence Sunday will not disrupt the Packers’ in-game routine.
Showing up to watch and actually "coaching" are two different things. But whatever, I ain't changing your mind and you aren't changing mind on this topic. No need to keep going in circles

Not sure what is so funny. Once Joe was promoted from O-line coach to OC, he moved to the coach's box. And if he watched the playoff game as nothing more than a fan, then why was he wearing a headset that provided him direct communication to Mike McCarthy? Do all "fans" get a headset at Lambeau? If so, then this partial season ticket holder would like one, too.

"No one expected Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin to be in his usual perch in the Green Bay Packers’ coaches box on Sunday." I guess this GB writer is wrong, too.

You didn't say coaches box you said luxury box, little difference. Trust me! I don't think the coaches box has leather sofa's, flat screen TV's, and waitress service of shrimp and sushi. That's why I was laughing.

i find your continuing diatribe in this matter odd!! very odd!!and its caused me much grief, stress and sadness. its distrating from the celebration of this great eagles dynasty weve been, and will continue to...witness.

seriously, why do you continue to feel the need to tell US, how YOU feel, HE should grieve??

let it go......

:blah:

I stand by my comment. Joe Philbin's son died during the NFL playoffs this year and he even took a week off from coaching (during the playoffs). All Joe did was show up on gameday and watch the game in the owners box or the coaches box like a fan and he did nothing. Andy Reid is refusing to miss a preseason game and only is willing to miss a couple days. It's the friggin preseason! Like I said its odd and sorry as I said earlier, he must not be too broken up. It's odd behavior and maybe that odd behavior is tied into why his son is dead at 29. The "home life" might not have been so great which forced this kid into the "lifestyle" he was in. Seems to me priorities are a little screwed up in the Reid household. Just an opinion. Obviously you disagree and are entitled too.

And me commenting on this is no different than anyone here commenting on the Paterno family or anything PSU related. It's all the same, commenting on the actions of someone famous or a famous family and their actions. So stay off the high horses!

I find it odd that I'm being told to stay off my high horse by someone who is criticizing how a person is dealing with the loss of a child. In doing so, you are insinuating that your method of coping with a similar situation would be different and somehow "more right." People cope in different ways, and no one should be told they're dealing with something so horrible "the wrong way." What makes you believe that you are some sort of moral authority where you believe you're in a position to comment on such a thing?

And I believe that across the board. Our obsession with the personal lives of public figures is one of the overwhelmingly negative aspects of our society. You using it as a defense methodology for your opinion is embarrassing.

Anyone can have an opinion on anything. As long as some ounce of humility goes into developing that opinion.
