Angeli has arrived

Maybe Collin’s just isn’t any good. If he played that bad and didn’t get benched that should tell you something.
Fran said he wasn't going to do anything drastic once he named Angeli the starter. He stuck with him far too long today and I believe he was trying to show Angeli he had his back and believed in him. But Angeli just doesn't have "it".

One could argue the opposite because he dug himself out of a hole in the 4th quarter. No one gets benched after leading a team to a comeback victory.

...

He left him out far too long?

He somehow hung in there to make the winning plays.

Angelli was hit 9/10 drop backs, often with only four rushers. 60min of 6 min to go Angelli is something we can work with, but I think a lot of that was Nixon opening up the play book. Agree he was very inaccurate most of the game though

I couldn't watch the game, but was listening while on the road. Adam Terry was obviously frustrated with the lack of protection for Angeli. He addressed it numerous times. Once he said in exasperation, "We just don't protect our quarterback anymore."

Angeli played his behind off. He was under pressure most of the game and seemed out of sync at times, but he turned it on when we needed him. Anyone calling for him to be benched after bringing us from behind in the 4th quarter is silly. Remember McCord vs Pitt last year? You have to allow guys to fight through adversity.

To add, only the coaches know how good Collins is. Saying the competition was close could be coach speak. We truly have no clue.

Please.

This is what happened today...the best QB on the team won a game for us that we should have lost. Is he McCord? No. But he is a guy who just had his 2nd career start when he was "The Guy" and came into the program late? Yes and yes. Things will get better. You will see him get better each week. Him playing all game says a lot about the gap between him and the rest of the QB room

The hell he doesn’t, game winning, game changing throws made in tight windows under ridiculous pressure literally and figuratively.

That first td throw to jrs was a thing of beauty, a laser shot in a tiny window throw of perfection, a throw most college qbs can’t make. Leading his team to an unbelievable come from behind victory against a good team

That’s the definition of having “it”. Here we go again me vs the naysayers once again just like last year with mcord. As I’ve said elsewhere this guy is McCordesque.

Doesn’t have quite the same arm strength but DOES have many of the same qualities.
Where he’s going to struggle all year is with balls batted down at the line of scrimmage, that’s because he can’t change his height.

Other than that he’s a gamer and will continue to be. Yes play Collins some vs Gate but not because your looking to replace but because you were going to do it anyways when you get comfortably ahead

Nah I’ll eat the dislikes. A good last 5 minutes doesn’t make me forget the horrid qb play through the first 3 quarters.

Staring down receivers, throwing into tight coverage, constant passes batted down (or up). The defense dropped 4 or 5 interceptions. The ball sailing high on near every third down pass.

Angeli is lucky JRS has himself a pair of hands.
