Angeli has arrived

Eggxactly, same drivel
you are strangely upset at people for telling events that absolutely happened. A lot of name calling too.

No one has said Angeli can’t get play better in the future but it’s an absolute fact that he played poorly for 3 and a half quarters. And nearly half of those 400 yards were in that last 7 minutes + OT

Angeli does not have the arm strength. There's very little velocity on his deep throws, unlike the short passes where he gets some zip. But, I trust the coaches when they say he's the guy and really like how precise he's been on the goalline.

We should get a look at Collins if all goes well against Colgate. I'm hoping for 35-0 at halftime and Collins plays most of the second half.

On ESPN's "College Football Final" [ESPN2 & ESPNU] EJ Manuel on Angeli's OT throw to JRS: "That might have been one of the best throws of the day, throughout the country. Seriously. I mean right there. Thread the needle." Matt Barrie added: "How about Syracuse coming back for the win . . . from the dead."

[Then later in the show they showed Fran making the team run sprints after the game. It also was on the overnight SportsCenter.]

You gotta admit tho he did clutch up when it mattered. Which was great to see

I hate to break it to the let’s see Collin’s people but we just are not seeing him unless Angeli gets hurt. There is no try him out stuff even up 6 touchdowns next week.

Fran will play Angeli with the 2’s and 3’s until the under 4 garbage time when Colgate will likely be putting in their walkons. At that point anything Collins shows won’t matter anyway.

And long before that we’ll likely be seeing 4 deep guys on defense and see a big revamp on the OL and different combos all over given the mess this week.

There’s too much youth and inexperience on this team for the coaches to know exactly how all the pieces fit so next week I think we’ll see a lot of experimenting still. It’s gonna drive fans nuts because it will be sloppy again but that’s how you build a program long term and for later in’s the season.

Arm strength and velocity weren’t the problems. It was the short game we sucked at.

I predicted before the season there would be constant complaining about who the starter was no matter who it was. If fans really trust Fran there’s no reason not to believe he’s playing the best QB.

They were. I’ll dig it up. And I’ve been sure to take painstaking efforts to say Angeli is not quite as good as McCord, and thought Collins may have deserved a shot in the fourth quarter

Edit: looking back most were not saying that he sucked but more questioning his overall abilities early in the season and most certainly after pitt. Damn screenshots I took won’t link here.
Would love to see screenshots of me saying McCord wasn't good enough as I called him one of the best QBs I ever saw play for SU and we were spoiled to have him.

Angeli was lucky to not have a Pitt game where he threw 5 picks in this game, because UConn dropped 3 easy ones.

I TRULY hope I am wrong. I want this team to be successful and keep the momentum going. I don't see him being better against faster defenses.

Kyle Mccord was a 5 star recruit that won a starting job at a flagship college football program before transferring to us, Steve Angeli was a 3 star recruit who was a 3rd string QB and at times the backup QB before transferring to us. Very different situations.
To nitpick, I believe Angeli was the backup at ND for 2 years, 2023 and 2024.

It was not a good 400 yards. This will not be good enough against ACC competition.

He has thrown two of the worst interceptions I have ever seen the past two weeks.

He is the king of 3 and outs...just like Devito was.

He played well on the last 3 drives but other than that not so good.

Its a reasonable position.

You've probably never played football, even in high school, to say something like this.
DeVito had happy feet, and held the ball too long.
But worst of all, he transferred mid-season when he lost the starting job.

Angeli started 10-13, then got hit hard a couple times, and didn't play well for about 2 quarters.
Fran could have subbed for him toward the end of the 3Q or at the start of 4Q, but didn't.

Angeli produced 3 touchdowns in the last 6 minutes of regulation, plus overtime.
He won the game. He made about 5 great passes in that phase of the game.

Fran showed faith in the kid, and he won the game.

It's about development, until around the 4th game or so. Then, you have a pretty good idea what you've got. Angeli did a great job.

I expect us to get up by about 30 against Colgate, and then have Rickie play the 4th quarter.

This is how you build a team. You let them try to work through bad stretches, and if they are successful, they grow from the experience.

He averages 2 turnovers per game. The inteeveptions are horrific. Go look at those plays. Projecting that out...If you think 24 turnovers over 12 games from one player is good then you must have never played football.

Cant win like that playa
