Steve Angeli leads the nation in passing after today’s Baylor game against Samford. The Baylor QB needed 250 today to keep his lead over Angeli but did not get it.

Not important this early in the season, just a factoid. Would actually love to see us in a more balanced attack with 200 yard running games. But whatever it takes to win.

Note: I edited my previous text now that he is #1

If we can keep this production in the passing game, even with a dubious line, i don't see why we couldn't continue to attract top Receiver and Quarterback talent.
Last season showed as that an excellent passing game covers a lot of ills like an unreliable defense and historically awful special teams.

You haven’t heard? He’s “not it”
That's not my take.

He's not as good as McCord. For sure. But he was historically great.

Let's count some chickens before they hatch. I know Dungey's got cult hero status but let's say Angeli gets us to a bowl/winning season this year, and comes back and leads us to a monster statistical year with the team in the Top 25. You'd have to put those two years over Dungey, right?

We would all be THRILLED to have a QB > Dungey every season.

good job on the on sequence throws for the most part. Tenn rushed him and I suspect Clemson will next week

As usual for us this game illustrates the old football adage about how the game is won or lost in the trenches.

Against a lesser opponent where our OL looks competent, or in this game even dominate, it allows for our skill guys to shine out and excel, Angeli included. Especially Angeli as given time this kid is more than McCordesque. And like in the bowl game he started for Notre Dame, we saw his decent elusiveness and running ability, which is better than McCord.

But as to the main point it’s Same shite different decade here as we often have stellar skill kids (on D too), but both lines too often lack for us to be a next level team (meaning top 10).

That all said we aren’t unique in this respect as this is true for the majority of power 4 teams, so with what we have we can certainly be competitive and expect we will in every game with what we have, and with this coach, because even while lacking upper echelon talent, our lines as of late are a notch above what we often have here (especially the OL). If Fran ever upgrades this even more watch out.

So yeah Starting with Clemson next week, who looks eminently beatable, we have more than enough to be competitive as needless to say they’re looking very mortal.

Angeli's piled up the yarfs.

Syracuse social media ABSOLUTELY should post that since the beginning of the 2024 college football season Syracuse leads D1 college football in passing yards.
A lot of empty yds. Top 10 in yds, bottom 90 in efficiency. Obviously puffed up after yesterday, but if that is going to mean anything pts need to correlate.

At least so far, it seems like special teams is not a concern. Perfect placekicking, a booming punt, and every kickoff went into the end zone.
Some guy tried to say stonehouse sucked at the game last night after his 70 yard punt went into the end zone. Some people’s kids.

$NFL calls , nothing you can do but say thank you.
They called last year but he wanted to coach his son and see his daughter more. Not sure we will get lucky two times in a row. If we got him another year with the youth we have coming back….makes me very giddy.

Two years in a row we have the best passing offense, this is incredible.
