Pure speculation but maybe the presser was set for Thursday to put SS in position to announce his new OC. I know he was supposed to be at a coaches conference but think most people getting his opportunity and understanding the situation would have left early to circle the wagons.

Convention is a good place to be when in need of coaches i would guess.
