LINEBACKER – Antonio Deslauriers, Fr., LB, Syracuse (Montreal, Quebec, Canada)

• Recorded six tackles and forced two fumbles in Syracuse’s road win at Clemson.
• One of the forced fumbles was recovered by the Orange deep in Clemson territory to put the game away on the ensuing offensive series.

I'm not throwing in the towel on this season at all, but I'm almost giddy thinking of next year.

We, as a fanbase, had pretty high expectations of him based purely on the way he looks and he's somehow surpassing them. I don't get to see that happen often lol.

I think what’s most impressive so far about Antoine’s game is his pursuit. Love the angles he takes and he’s an excellent tackler on top of that. Wraps up well with great technique. The speed is there as well. He’s much quicker than any linebacker we currently have. I mean, on paper he really is the most talented linebacker, although Jamie tremble would probably like to have a word with me about that. As long as we keep retaining a lot more than we lose, we will be in a great spot, it’s how dabo built Clemson into what it is today (aside from this year).

There was a fumble that Clemson recovered in the first half. Not much was made of it.

You have Angeli, Willis, Cook, Gill, Hornsby, Ross almost the whole o-line coming back.

You have your top 3 corners, Long, Perry all coming back in the secondary. AD, Tremble at linebacker. Defensive line you’ll see some change over.

But then you also have one of the best recruiting classes Syracuse has brought in along time for next year too. That doesn’t even count the players Fran will bring in the portal as well. Next year could REALLLLY be something special. But I’m still excited for this season and how we started

Obviously can’t look too far ahead and ALOT of variables. But there is a very decent shot we could be 6-1 or 7-0 heading into that home Clemson game. Would need Clemson to handle business as well. Obviously looking WAYYYY ahead but as of right now. That is certainly a possibility

I feel like by the time his career with us is done Deslaurier is going to make some kind of insane play where he like picks up and throws the running back into the QB for a sack.

When he was making plays in preseason in deep coverage you knew he was special. The speed to track wrs down field but also the mentality to be willing to do so are very special attributes

Hell I think by seasons end we’ll be talking how Mack is going to be a draft pick in a couple years at left tackle too. He’s played extremely well when healthy and has the size. We have a lot of young talent on this roster where there is a lot of potential starting to be realized

For perspective I went back and looked at his recruiting thread and man ... the tenor and tone of how we fans were then compared to now ... its night and day. Simply incredible how much has changed.
