Any reactions from the players?

Bowling Green has a red shirt juinor QB, name is Knapke, he could graduate this year (depending his academic progress) and tranfer in as a grad student. Johnson got hurt in 2014 and this kid played the remainer of the season. This kid knows the system. I wonder if Babers would try to bring him in

2014: Played in all 14 games for the Falcons at quarterback, making 13 starts following a season-ending injury to starter Matt Johnson … completed 280-of-483 passes for 3,173 yards and 15 touchdowns … 280 completions was sixth-most in school history for a single season … 483 passing attempts were third-most in school history for a single season … 3,173 passing yards were seventh-most in school history for a single season … earned MAC East Offensive Player of the Week in just his second career start, passing for 395 yards in a 45-42 win over Indiana on Sept. 13 … completed 46-of-73 passes, both of which were school records … passed for three touchdowns in that game, including a game-winner to Roger Lewis with nine seconds remaining … completed 38-of-59 passes for a career-high 443 yards in a win at UMass on Sept. 27 … 443 yards passing were fourth-most in school history for a single season … was named Bart Starr MVP in the Camellia Bowl after completing 25-of-39 passes for 368 yards and two touchdowns in a win over South Alabama on Dec. 20.
Obviously if Dungey is here and healthy the discussion doesn't matter, but that's a good find Money. He could definitely serve as a solid one year bridge to the young guys. Maybe we go JUCO for a QB?

Sounds like another Long/Knapp situation.

That may or may not be one aspect of his decision, but not the only consideration. We'll find out soon enough. I hope he stays and is healthy. I think he has the smarts to learn the system faster than anyone else on the roster, and is obviously the best passer we currently have.

That makes me wonder about something.

The 3 strikes and you're out thing with concussions, if I'm not mistaken, was Shafer's thing.

Will that continue moving forward under Dino? Or will he have his own policy?

Even if the policy stays in place, at least have a certified neurosurgeon making the diagnosis. No more GP's covering their a$$.

No it wasn't Shafers' policy. This policy was in effect with Marrone...remember Adam Harris.

Agreed.I'm all for being cautious here and protecting players, but I don't like that our GP is DQing them then having specialists saying they're fine.

Ok, so was it the head coaches policy? Or a University policy?

Concussion Safety
In January 2015, the five Division I conferences with autonomy around student-athlete well-being matters passed Concussion Safety Protocol Legislation that builds upon previous NCAA concussion legislation. The new legislation states that each school must submit a concussion safety protocol to the Concussion Safety Protocol Committee – also created by the legislation – for review, and the protocol must be consistent with the Inter-Association Consensus: Diagnosis and Management of Sport-Related Concussion Guidelines.

The Concussion Safety Protocol Committee met March 9, 2015, at the NCAA national office. The purpose of the meeting was to define the scope and parameters of the committee, in keeping with the new legislation, and to develop a checklist that outlines the core components for each institution’s concussion management plan.

Throughout spring and summer 2015, the Committee assessed submissions from each of the 65 schools in the conferences under this legislation and made recommendations for improvement and for consistency with checklist and inter-association guidelines. All 65 protocols ultimately were approved and are available below.

Let me guess, we adopted and put in place the most ridiculously stupid restrictive concussion policy and protocol on the planet and we are stickin to it.

We have had more DQ's this year and last than every other institution in the P5 combined.

My guess is the concussion policy is a private school getting out in front of this stuff to minimize liability down the road in a class action suit from former players either against the school or the NCAA.

I don't think he had one against Pitt, I think he was in collecting himself, he came back in and he did a post game interview.

I am all for protecting the players and being proactive about concussions. I just wish there was more reliable data about it.
