Things have been kind of quiet in terms of who looks good so far in camp. Obviously no media doesn't help things much but do we have a depth chart? Guys like Hendrix and Caleb O... who do they look?

In recent interviews, 2 people said Ed Hendrix is playing well.

Also, Steve Linton got a shoutout from TD as being a standout on D.

Tommy’s mentioned N. Johnson’s really stepped up.

Plenty of players have expressed excitement for J Jordan

Anyone whos switched to a single digit jersey number, especially 0, must’ve done something impressive to earn it.

I think that Dino is tempering our expectations and not getting us excited. He’s learned we hang on his every word, which is not good.

This is a unique offseason, we’re operating under what information Dino and the AD allows us to have. Now, yes, it’s like this each season. But now there’s a covid opt-out, eligibility changes and potential for player protest due to societal issues (systemic racism etc).

We won’t know who’s playing until the absolute last minute imo and that makes this year much different.

Aye, last year was sobering, I think he is very guarded.

We hang on his every word because he gives us next to nothing. I'm a big Dino fan but the lack of media access and dearth of off-season information on the team we, as fans, receive is one of my complaints about him. He's too paranoid about other teams getting info that he locks it all down, all the time. We know next to nothing about off-season player performance and/or development.

I think this is less Dino, than it is SU AD. They got burned when McF$&@it when off the rails for SS.

Syracuse is a YOUNG team! Just looked at the roster:

30 True Freshmen (29.1%%)
21 Redshirt Freshmen (20.4%)
7 True Sophomores (6.8%)
13 Redshirt Sophomores (12.6%)
5 True Juniors (4.8%)
13 Redshirt Juniors (12.6%)
6 True Seniors (5.8%)
8 Redshirt Seniors (7.8%)

Roughly, half the team are classified as freshmen. I don't know if this is good or bad, but shouldn't these numbers be more balanced? What might be skewing it is that these are total numbers, not just scholarship numbers. Maybe the scholarship numbers are more balanced.

You bring in up to 25 Frosh every year.
You can only have 85 scholarship players total.

PWO’s are skewing those #’s a bit.

Also, ideally a lot of those Frosh will RS, so they can develop more before being thrown into the fire.
We’re finally able to do that, these past few seasons.

The ones who are good enough, play.
(see: Cisco, Trill, Mikel Jones, etc.).

Typically only half of a given class makes it thru to Senior year, whether that be due to transfers, injury, or other.
That’s just how it is - and I doubt it’s unique to Syracuse football.

“Other” this year (assuming there is one) could be due to early departures to the NFL.
Cisco and maybe Trill are both candidates to go that path.
This is a Good Thing
