Any1 else unimpressed with UNC?

...Mich St started off well...then lead guard slipped on logo and a down hill trend began and just kept rolling faster...UNC looks okay so far...not great

Agreed. The 2-3 would be the difference. Not convinced that UNC can beat you from the outside. They can run and they have bigs, but they clearly have trouble with more physical teams on the glass. If they develop a couple more shooters besides Barnes, then they'll be a tough out. I am more impressed with UK at this point than UNC.
not to mention henson would be guarding the 4 where we are gonna get very little offense for the most part anyways... make him ineffective

That lead guard was their sf Dawson. I thought Nix was a beast early and having him in the game intimidated UNC. Harrison Barnes is smooth, but this is not a tough team, you can push them around.

Mich St. lacks height...I believe we match up well against NC and would beat them...I didnt see anything this game that would make me sweat our chances

The game seemed pretty sloppy and I don't think you saw either team at their best. It's not like every team comes out of the gate running on all cylinders, hell last year's SU team looked pretty sh-tty until it got to to MSG and beat up on MSU. If we give any validity to the fact that Cuse is top 5 everywhere you look, there's no team in the country that they couldn't beat; specifically in UNC's case, yeah SU might match up rather well with them.

Game 1 in a weird situation I'm not going to take too much from it. Seriously, I can't imagine how hard it would be to keep focus with the hype, the ceremonies, the gravity of the location and the audience and the President of the United States watching you. Izzo was grinning like a little kid when Obama walked by him.

Marshall's passing would concern me. Also, our raw bigs getting shots off against their size. Jackson had some nifty post moves. Someone would need to get them in foul trouble. We can beat them but it wouldn't be easy. Slight edge to them, imo.

1 and 3... but anyways zeller is a senior and i'm about 87% davis will be going pro. Sooo... irrelevant unless we play them this year Sean Penn.

I absolutely think our front line could push them around. They have no beef up front, Fab Melo (if the hype is warranted) should have his way with them. Xmas and Baye, physically look like what UNC puts out there in terms of an athletic, tall, lanky frontcourt.

I'm not ready to say our front line is going to push theirs around. Their starting front line will all be first round picks, and they bring a McDonalds AA off the bench to fill in for those guys.
It is true that right now, they definitely lack some outside shooting, and we may match up well with them if we can force them to rely on deep shots.
But I think this is another one of the message board meme's that I love. "Highly ranked team X doesn't look good in a single game; I think we can beat them". Of course it loses a little when we're preseason #5 and should be able to play with anyone anyway. But I still find it funny.

They're over-hyped as usual, & certainly not unbeatable.
Barnes is getting better every game, but right now I'd take Jeremy Lamb over him.

I agree with longisland.
Melos got Henson one on one. Henson is long but Melo is just as long probably as fast and can push him around. Rak won't score as much as Mcdoo but he will slow him down on the defensive end. I think Dion and Fab are going to be one of the toughest combos in college ball this year.
Barnes is in great shape. But Kris is a Senior this year.
