At the end of the college b-ball show he had to pipe in that Monday at L-ville will be our first REAL road test...I just smiled
He is pretty darn knowledgible re b-ball and I like to hear his point of view
I think he says alot of anti Cuse stuff to fire up his parents
If I am not mistaken I believe his mother is an SU alumn, not sure about his father

Anyway if we keep winning the talking heads will not have anything bad to say
They all mentioned Cuse as the team that would trouble Ashley Judd's boys

If we get to the FF and play OSU gottlieb will say "it's Syracuse's first real test of the year, I still don't know how good they are"

He also said that he finally saw the Syracuse for the first two months of the season.

Man, what a jerk!

I'd say it's the "hardest" road test of the year. But Cincy and ND were still "real" road tests imo, based on crowd hostility.

He said that about Stanford/than Va Tech but technically MSG is a Home game, then NC State/ ND/ then Cincy . He just can't count. :blah:

He is pretty spot on. Cant see how people can get angry over that. It really is our first brutal road test and yes it is the first time in a while that we have played like we did in December/early January.

He always has to say something negative about SU, even when they win. He NEVER says anything negative about UNC or Duke even when they lose...and he's ample opportunity to criticize them this season after some brutal loses.

He certainly has said negative things about every team this season. He ripped UNC after the Florida State debacle and ripped Duke after they lost to Miami.

He'd be "spot on" if, like others have already pointed out, he hadn't said the same things about both the ND and Cincinnati games. How many road games can one say are our "first real" test after all?

Cheers,
Neil

Simple solution. Give him an honorary Newhouse degree and shut his pie hole up.

I don't have a problem with him saying it may be our toughest road test or that we have only had a couple of tough road tests - for a team ranked #2 in the polls, but it is hard to deny that the games against Notre Dame, Cincy and NC State were tough road tests in hostile environments. None of them are top 10 opponents, if he wants to add that kind of caveat than do it, but to say they aren't tough road tests destroys the relatively valid point he is trying to make.

That's not true. He ripped Zeller and UNC's strategy of going under ball screens against Duke. The guy knows his stuff. Cincinnati was definitely a W though in a very hostile environment. I was there. Generally he's pretty spot on, though.

Playing the 'Ville on their homecourt is always a tough test. They finally have everyone healthy and they are playing better than early in the season. Plus, Rick knows how to attack the zone. Look at our record against them in the last 10 games if you don't believe it. Hardly a diss in my book.

After the Cincy game Gates said that was the loudest he's ever heard 5/3 arena.

Louisville will be loud.
UConn will be louder though.

If we don't win Monday, maybe someone will at least dive into the Louisville bench and bust that pompous ahole's head wide open. Can't stand Pitino.

The Cincinnati game was a true road game, that was the first time they sold out there arena. That's a tougher environment than anything the ACC has besides Duke and UNC.

If we come out with a win Monday I am convinced we can go all the way. Stars are somewhat aligned against us: Louisville healthy, Menaces Kuric and Siva are back and playing well, Bad recent history, Road Game, and not least of all, they are a pretty damned good team without the stars aligned. Maybe not the first true road test but this one is the highest level test to date, and perhaps there may be none harder the rest of the way.
