Jim Boeheim - Interim Head Coach... hear me out.

Yeah why not. Boeheim could literally sleep through the games and it would be better than this. He's not that old and is young for his age.

It would retain next year's class. Push back the inevitable search.

Firing Red for JB tomorrow would be a no lose move.

I once got to spend time with the Director of Scouting for an NBA team. I was bemoaning the state of Syracuse basketball. I repeated the line you hear a lot here about how Boeheim sort of drove it into the ground. He laughed. "In Boeheim's worst 10-year stretch, he had an overall winning percentage off about 64%. If you extrapolate that out and compare that to the winning-est programs of all time, that would put Syracuse as 15th ranked program of all time. And that's his WORST stretch."

He agreed Boeheim had some bad seasons at the end. But even his "bad" seasons were just average. "Syracuse has no concept of a bad basketball season," he said.

Well, we might have that concept pretty soon.

I think Autrey needs to get Leno'd.

Bring Boeheim back. Let him coach until we've identified a really strong candidate for head coach. (One who has had success at some level as a head-coach.)

Boeheim knows the program, and knows these kids (at least to some extent, I assume). If we brought in someone for an interim coach role, having a hall-of-fame coach do it is more likely to revitalize the players rather than some random asst coach on a program that's already not doing well. And that gives us the best chance to keep Kiyan in the fold.

I know it's a crazy idea. But I'm not sure it's necessarily crazier than waiting to see something from Autrey who has yet to show me anything that suggests an aptitude for in-game coaching or pre-grame planning or an ability to motivate players.
The know it all posters in here hated the man and get what they wanted.

Full stop. Never happening.

Nobody here hated him although many hated what he was doing to the program. But as bad as this is, it’s at least moving closer to the fresh start we should have made years ago. So yes I would prefer this over more years like JB’s last few with him still at the helm.

Ummm….this IS the “fresh start”. What he did to the program is create expectations which led the hounds bay at his doorstep. What he did was failed to adapt to some crap changes to the game. He did so much with so little.

I disagree that hiring an assistant is a real fresh start. So much with so little?!!?!? He had a Dome and some of the best college players of their times.

Next year is a unique situation its Carmelo Anthony's kid.

It means two things. 1. The AD can totally cheap out on the extrernal job hunt and hire someone for peanuts as long as Mel is on board. 2. The inevitable external job hunt will be pushed back the can is getting kicked down the road.

Draw your own conclusions but it can't be Red after this and its not going to be a fresh start either. JB back totally makes sense if Carmelo wants that.

Dude… bringing Boeheim back would be one of the most absurd moves in the history of this sport.

IT would be fun and I'd be down.

Carlos played every minute again that needs to stop.

Don't forget that Elijiah Moore has been a dog and played amazing but its been for nothing bc Carlos gets abused every possession.

Go zone and ask JB to save us and let him coach Kiyan.

No, it wouldn’t be fun. What the hell are you talking about?

Huh

JB is not part of any solution he was part of the problem. He sold ADJW that he could turn this program around with no intentions of retiring. When the inevitable happened a coach had to be hastily put in place for recruiting. Sadly as a result another inevitable needs to happen

Nobody here hated him although many hated what he was doing to the program.

It is/was personal for some prominent posters. At the height of it, posts stretched well beyond the realm of valid criticism.

When they eventually do a big ceremony for JB, assuming they will, the applause will be one of the most hypocritical acts I’ve ever seen.

NO jb is the reason we are in this mess.if his first ten years of coaching was like the last ten he would have been fired .from the lackluster results to the probations to the publicly humiliating school, conference and players to running over a homeless person on 690. And to finally running off good players to make room for a third team all ivy player who sucked. WE NEED fresh blood away from the tree IF Red doesn't work out.

I hate that it seems like next year will be a waste of decent talent. Would we be better off going with JB and HCIW Hop for 2024-25 and 2025-26? Sure, but that will not happen. We are stuck having to wait until 2026-27 at least.

Sad that as fans we have been held hostage for a decade. First with the end of JB and now with Red. Hopefully we aren't killing future fans.

You missed this last season?

There's a fact you had better learn to accept. Adrian Autry will be the head coach of Syracuse next year whether you like it or not.

The man was pushing 80 and the teams were playing like crap, what did you want? You want to call everyone out and insult them, what's your take? Probably don't have one.
and people didn't hate him. IN fact people were too loyal to him and allowed the family reunion, the lack of effort, the increased surliness.

JB built the structure to very high levels but he helped with the foundation decay, and Red (who also let the decay start) is speeding it up by apparently adding termites.

This narrative that JB got ran out and we would be better with him still here is insane.

“We bring James Arthur Boeheim back. Stay with me now.”
