I felt better about us beating Indiana than I do Marquette. They know our zone. They know our coach. They know our players. Were coming off of a huge win. MCW had his best game ever (and often that results in a crash the following game).

On the other hand ... We know their style. We know their coach. They're coming off of a huge win. Etc.

Just wondering what you guys think?

Agree dat. I'm fully expecting the quintessential rock fight.

They had to have an incredibly lucky combination of events happen to win that game this year.

And that was when we were in the midst of a losing streak and possibly imploding.

There is not a single team that is playing better team defense than Syracuse right now. This team has a chip on its shoulder and JB is coaching his a$$ off.

Bring them on. We are going to roll them.

This is our year. Marquette. Buzz Williams.

Love the enthusiasm!

Substantially less nervous, but that in no way means I think this is an easy win or anything. Marquette will fight to the death in this game.

Count me in the camp for feeling better about the IU game. However, I still feel we get the win, but it's going to be a dog fight to the end. Both teams play such good hard nosed defense I can't see much separation. Also you have to figure we don't put them on the line 35 times and have them make 29. I am a bit concerned that we shot 47% from the field, made 8 threes, and still lost, while Vander Blue only had 6 points. Blue has been playing at an elite level, and they seem to be very confident. When it's all said and done though we are also extremely confident and are better top to bottom then they are. We really need another strong performance from Baye, and if Rak shows up that would also be nice. CJ will once again have a huge advantage that I hope we can exploit. I say we win 60-56

in the elite 8, no game is easy. ask yourslef, who would u rather play? ohio sttae in LA, duke in indy, kansas in jerrys world, etc. bottom line, yes gthey know r zone, however the second time we gte to make adjustmenst as well. it will not be easy, however the home crowd will be huge tomorrow

We are playing better than we did during that bad stretch, & we really should have beaten them. They didn't exactly handle us, they got lucky with favorable officiating & a couple key plays.

This defense we have can pretty much will a victory if they play 40 minutes.

It's a numbers game with this defense. If they play it tough, they will limit Marquette's chances to score, just like Indiana. I believe Indiana has a better offense than 'Quette, so we should be able to keep them under 60 just like the Indy game.

Christmas is due for a good game, & so is CJ & Southy. They really didn't produce too much in this game, & I think they will contribute much more as a tandem here than before.

MCW & Triche took over in the IU battle, & might have a bit more trouble scoring against these Marquette guards, but Someone else will step up & beat them, because none of these teams have players to match 'CUSE at most positions.

That's another thing that scares me. Sure, they did shoot 35 free throws. But we also shot 48% and hit 8 three pointers. So... kinda evens out.

not going to like Marquette was the 1 team that made me nervous in this region, just ahead of Butler.

they needed a buzzer beater to beat a crappy st johns team last game of regular season, then lost to notre dame their first big east tourny game, then needed big time comebacks to beat davidson and butler in the ncaas. people are overreacting to that miami win. miami was missing their center and larkin was sick as a dog, mentally they were done before the game even started. this is a very winnable game, we just have to want it as much as them. i know that sounds cliche but i think the only way marquette beats us is if we dont match their aggressiveness

I'm terrified every game.

I wouldn't say "terrified." I'm always girded against the feeling of disappointment by not expecting a win. I think it's an involuntary coping mechanism evolved over too many years of anxiety. It's sad, though, when big wins are more 'relief' than joy... But, i can't deal with those huge swings of emotion.

Gotta say, though, i'm happy to have my objectivity/pessimism disturbed by some success. I wasn't overly impressed by the first two wins over low seeds, but the Indiana win was significant. Like many said earlier in the season, it's a wide open field. Anyone could win this thing.

I never expected them to get this far so I'm not concerned at all. We're playing with house money at this point. If we play like we did last night we'll be a tough out.

have any proof to back this up or are you just making up something to bolster your argument?

I am bullish on the 'cuse right now. And why not? They just beat a heck of a team. I thought there was no way they beat Indy. They also beat Georgetown when the Hoyas were looking unbeatable and have had a strong record against the tournament favorite. This team has all the elements to win it all.

Marquette does know the zone but we are playing it better now than when we played Marquette earlier in the year. I think it will be particularly tough to play with two days prep.

Will still be on pins and needles.

I'm going positive on this one.zGardner is quoted as saying he uses his big body to bang opponents with his weight. If the freaking refs call the game correctly he should be out of there soon enough. Plan B by putting inout big body to try his scoring ability inside and draw Devante's fouls. If MCW is the player that the media claims him to be et him put together a string of games and lead us to the NC!Also lets get something from James in this game on offense Rebounding and defense again will win or lose this game to get to Ohio State again.:cool:

I said all week leading up the the IU game that, if we won, I did not want to see Marquette facing us. I don't want to see another BE team in this tournament - unless it's Louisville.

Well, they're there. Guess we'll just have to kick the snot out of them too. But they scare me.
