Anyone here want a piece of Michigan State in the tourney?

Can honestly say I'm not scared to face any team in the country. If i were forced to pick one team I wouldn't want to face, it would be the Buckeyes or an unknown entity like Wichita St, St Marys, etc. I can't stomach another Butler 2010 loss.

Mizzou scares me a bit. They run up and down and make a lot of threes. Could be a bad match up if they get hot.

Mizzou is small and not deep; OSU scares me the most.

I love missouri, think theyre a final 4 team. But theyre probably the kinda team we want. Ill take my chances with any team that wants to get in a track meet with us.

Any team that can't out rebound us is going to lose. A small team like Missouri that thinks it can outshoot us and outrun us is a 95-80 win waiting to happen.

Combo teams that can kill us on the boards and stay with us in the running game (Oh ST, UNC, Mich St, Kentucky and maybe a few others) scare me the most.

The only other teams that worry me are the veteran mid major teams that will get 6 turnovers and 20+ possessions that last at least thirty seconds without a single shot clock violation.

You never want Izzo in the dance. However, this year I think we would take our chances against anyone.

The elite 8 and final four potential matchups dont scare me like whatever mid major awaits us in the Sweet 16. St Marys/Temple or someone like that is gonna be a dogfight.. I can feel it.

Bring on any of the big boys.. not scared of any of the top 10, outside of KY Jelly.

Yeah, I tend to think the tourney matchups are important but it also tends to come down to how well you're playing. If this team plays well I'm not sure anyone really terrifies me. I'd actually like a UK/SU matchup. Think it would be fun. But I agree with most, I'm not sure I'd be shocked if this team struggled to get by the second or third round or if they wound up in the title game. It's been a great season but I still see the tourney as a crapshoot since we clearly have weaknesses (rebounding/half-court offense).

Missouri dosn't have to run, though. They play much differently with Haith now. I'd prefer to avoid them. I actually haven't seen Michigan St. play once this year. I assume they still play hard and those former stud recruits Payne/Appling are producing now? Green of course is a good player.

Not me.

I agree. They're looking really good. Classic Izzo team. Excellent defense and rebounding. A couple athletic guys who can get to the hoop. I think they will win the Big 10, and that's saying something this year.

Where's the poster who made" the official how bad do we lose to MSU thread?" last year? His services are needed.

Does everyone really think Missouri is better than Kansas? I thought KU was the better team when they played and a couple homecooking charging calls made all the difference. I know we were lucky to win a couple in the Dome too, but wvu/gtown needed those games more than us - that game was Mizzou's super bowl.

Taylor would be a mess vs. us; I'm talking 8+ turnovers himself.

I don't. I like Kansas a lot. Withey is playing just as well as Fab now if not better.

That's my biggest worry too. Like someone else said in this thread; a mid-major team with a lot of seniors who would be real patient and methodical vs. the zone and has the ability to get hot from deep.

I still think we won't lose in March unless someone hits 14+ 3's against us, but I'd love to avoid a game in the 50s vs. a team like Temple.

Right now Kansas has an RPI of five and Missouri is 9th. Amazing how that works since Missouri beat Kansas straight up and they only have two losses compared to Kansas five losses but it all depends on who you play and who you beat and lose to. I've seen Kansas as getting a one seed in some of the latest bracketologies. BTW, the Cuse is sitting as #1 RPI and #1 in power ranking for anyone interested.

Perhaps because the RPI is a sham? 25% is your win/loss...25% is your opponents opponents win/loss... What.

I pay less than zero attention to the RPI, which is a joke. Despite the occasional outlier (most notably Wisconsin) kenpom and sagarin are much better tools imo - Kansas ranks favorably in those too. All things being equal a narrow head to head home win doesn't mean much. I guess you could say "all things aren't equal" but they're closer than you might think given 2 of those losses were to UK & Duke.

Kansas loses the turnover wars with SU, making that a better matchup than Mizzou, even though Kansas may be the better team. Mizzou's guards are lightning fast and experienced, meaning that SU will have to rely on more than steals to beat them. Height can count for the Cuse, but Mizzou's hole card is a hot 3-pt streak. That's why I think Mizzou is the team SU would like to see in the other half of the NCAAs. SU-MO would be an excellent Finals game between two talented, experienced teams.-VBOF

Mizzou's guards are really good, but I don't think they have the size to compete with us or UK. A hot 3pt streak would have to beat us.
