Our front 7 recruiting has been poor thus far IMO. There is not much there. Even with a new DC we will struggle due to talent. For the OL it is too early to tell on the HS kids. The portal guys have seemed decent. I think we need another big RB. It is great that he can pull in 4 star WRs and DBs. But you need a lot more than that to win games. It was crazy that we had a HS class of 30 with half of those commits being WRs and DBs. Especially since those are areas where we had depth and talent already. At least he seems to be pivoting now on some of these kids. Fran has a ton of potential but no one knows either way how this will play out. We cannot afford to extend anyone beyond what we can buyout. If we can only afford 1-2 years then no HC (even Saban) should have more than 3 years left on a contract beyond their initial contract. You can reward success with salary increases but adding years that we cannot afford to get out of is bad for the program. And no amount of money will keep a HC from being poached.
