AP / Coaches Polls for Nov 3

SEC teams get mulligans like no other league

6 teams in with multiple losses five with 2 losses and Vandy with 3
It definitely takes a while in that league to figure out who is legit and who isn’t. S Carolina, Arkansas Vanderbilt, even Kentucky and Florida come to mind as teams that have looked good but inconsistent. Wouldn’t feel great against any of them If we played today.

Oklahoma was ranked for far too long despite looking like garbage every game. Because as you say “they must be good” despite what you see.

Missouri being ranked in one poll and #26 in the other is a total joke. Blown out/ shut out by Bama By 34, Destroyed by A&M By 31, Squeaked by Vandy and BC. If that was our resume we would not receive 1 vote.

on the other side of the coin, Boise state, Kansas State, Iowa State, Wazu, and Army would all have at least three losses with an average SEC schedule, and none of them would be ranked, or even receiving votes.

teams like us need to schedule and beat good SEC and Big Ten teams non conference to change the narrative.

I’m not sure the entire ACC has one non conference ranked win (except us?)

We are going to play Tennessee next year. Have to play P2 team if we want to be ranked.

I get everyone's frustration but our 2 losses are to a horrible stanford team and we got steam rolled by the 22nd team in country. I'm surprised we got as many votes as we did
Flip side is all 6 of our wins vs teams currently with winning records, 2 of which were ranked, is certainly better resume than some above us.

OTHERS RECEIVING VOTES:

Missouri 81, South Carolina 58, Tulane 41, UNLV 9, Louisiana-Lafayette 9, Washington 4, Arizona St. 3, Iowa 2, Texas Tech 2.
How does a team that lost at home to us get 9 votes and we get none?
Obviously some people need their voting privileges taken away.

The only Syracuse game non-ACC people watched this whole year is the one we were against Pitt. This is how hard a non-top 25 team gets exposure. And we did not grab the opportunity.

Beating a team that was ranked means nothing. Are they still ranked? Nope. Therefore it doesn’t matter.

They are dominate on both sides of the ball. They and Tennessee are the only teams top 10 in both offense and defense.

That doesn’t take quality of opponent into account - I don’t think relying entirely on “counting stats” devoid of any context is a great way to assess a team in college football.

The Athletic has us ranked #28.
