HBCUs have been left to rot. Their schools get none of the funding that flagship state school gets, they don't have regional appeal because of their general purpose, and their donor bases aren't all that big. It's a real shame - they have proud histories and were founded for the right reasons, but in general, time seems to have passed them by.

It's a good thing that time has passed by their initial purpose. The problem is that HBCUs refuse to re-purpose themselves.
