Arizona State just scored 29 points in their entire game.

Wow they are terrible. That win is not going to carry much weight. I thought it might be a ncaaw score but the fighting hurleys put up 29 total

So much for that Cuse victory being a quality win come March

Annoying you.

All I did was point out a college basketball team from the P5 didn’t even score 30 points in an entire game. Which is crazy.
We just played this team.
No, not annoying me. Just trying to figure out why you made a statement about us beating a brutally bad team. Were you surprised we beat them?

Umm, what's your point?

I think his point is made in the second sentence in his post. ASU seems to be a very bad team.

I’d say everyone else can let their minds take them wherever that information leads them.

For me, it says let’s temper expectations if you’re looking at that game as a barometer for our potential. For others, they may choose to ignore it and focus on the solid win against Indiana. For others, they may choose to do both.

It’s information on a fan board.

They are a bad team and we beat them. Maybe he can post a comment everytime a team we've already beat loses. That would be great information for some to know.

It was an underhanded discredit to Syracuse. I see why you’re questioning.
Nah. He said it was an observation. You perceive it as a slight. It’s just Syracuse Fan reportage. 29 points in 40 minutes is noteworthy. That we played them recently makes it a GOI (game of interest) for me anyway.

look - the zone SHOULD be designed to TAKE AWAY easy shots and force teams into difficult shots

But as it is currently employed by SU - it is doing the exact opposite

NOTHING EASY - needs to be the idea of the defense.

Stop giving up wide open 3 and layups dunks. period.

whatever has to happen to make that happen needs to.

it really isnt rocket science...but it just might mean not playing 2-3 zone with this group.

Can JB not play zone?

Which defense can stop giving up wide open shots????

as it is...teams get wide open layups and threes...its supposed to be a tradeoff -that the defense wins by employing zone...more turnovers...more difficulty...but in reality...its a losing tradeoff with this team.

worse rebounding, easy shot difficulty for opponents, uncontested shots vs more turnovers, being able to play slow players, more coach control over what players do defensively

its not worth it now...and even though it will improve by seasons end...it still may never get good enough to make the tradeoff worth it with this roster

some years - when the personnel fits the zone - the tradeoff is worth it. but not this time.

It’s interesting to me to see how different people react to certain posts. I saw the post and thought to myself “Wow - 29 points? That’s atrociously bad.” And it gave me a different angle on things. I knew they were bad, as probably all of us did. But 29 points is almost unheard of, and I honestly probably wouldn’t have known if Alsacs hadn’t posted it.

I don’t think he would have posted anything if they had lost like 75-55.

But I also know this is a message board, people have angles and history with other posters, and that dictates their responses.

It’s an interesting dynamic.

well there were posts on this board that suggested Colgate and ASU were good...it appears they are not, it’s worth noting as good wins help us get into the tourney

You are either a bend the knee or you are hater from that poster.
It’s a joke how people can’t take disagreement without being sensitive.

Somebody yesterday posted Colgste’s score against Niagara. This sensitive safe space poster didn’t make any comment j. That thread about discrediting Syracuse.
It’s a joke how people can’t just ignore stuff.
There is a lot I ignore.

Is a thread about a team we lost to the same as a thread about a team we beat?

Why don't we just agree that CBB is upside down this year and things are going to happen to a lot of different teams. We are seeing that every night. Like #12 BYU, favored by 14.5, loses to Utah Valley. Just crazy.

You weren’t the poster I was referring to. It was poster who CA Monk responded too.

He didn’t care about the Colgate thread but had to stick his nose with stupid not even funny troll effort. If people disagree with other opinions I don’t care. When people want to disagree because of a particular poster then I got s problem. If you aren’t going to be consistent then I wouldn’t say anything.

lol why wouldn’t it be pointed out on the board that a team we just played, and gave up 55 pts to in a half, couldn’t even score 30 in a whole game?
Yeah it’s an indictment of the current state of our defense - and a deserved one

I would like to understand what is the exact lineup construction required to play man D. It would seem 350+ other schools have managed to construct such a roster every year for decades yet we’ve been unable to amass the requisite components even once for about 30 straight years .
