Jordan Palmer did an interview with NBC Sports and talked about the Briles/Malzahn offense. I thought his comments were a little interesting given our QB recruiting troubles in the past. It's just one guy's opinion, but he works with a handful of NFL QBs.

This is why this guy is a QB trainer and not a coach. The Briles offense and the Malzahn offense are not very similar.

The whole point of the article is how hard the former AU QB had it learning the Pats offense from college. The writer failed to include Dino as a Briles disciple and failed to mention Jimmy Garropolo. Shoddy work.

I don't think he was comparing the 2 offenses and saying they are similar. He was commenting how Stidham went from Baylor to Auburn and saying that neither offense is like anything in the NFL.

Well the other side of the argument is that these offenses recruit QB’s that are capable of being successful at the college level but not at the NFL.

USC ran a pro style offense, recruited blue chip QB’s and most of their QB’s outside Carson Palmer flamed out too.

Maybe the better argument is that it’s extremely difficult to a) project if a QB will be successful at the college level and b) subsequently project success at the NFL level.

The article seems like cherry picking to me based on how difficult a time he had converting one particular college QB to admittedly the NFL’s toughest offensive system to pick up.

Most QB's coming from college will struggle playing in Pats scheme. Its known to be complexed and takes time to learn. There is barely any pro schemes being used in college. Heck, pro schemes are being used less in the pro's.
