If correct, that would be less than they are getting now.
When you think about it, it makes total sense.
Football is by far your greatest revenue generator.
You've increased your number of teams by 50% from 8 to 12. You've lost arguably your 3 most popular brands and replaced them with mid-majors from ConferenceUSA, the MAC, and the Mountain West.
There is a fixed amount of TV space to televise, meaning that just because you add teams that doesn't necessarily mean that you have 50% more airtime.
So in the end, the Big East would have to get $1.5 billion rather than the $1 billion that it turned down just to break even on that deal.
Forget conjecture, just looking at the numbers using logic, the idea that teams would actually get more money than they are now isn't very likely.
