Also, basketball has been a power program essentially my entire life - our "down periods" don't last very long, and would be considered decent years at most schools.  I remember renewing my season tickets for football after a one win 2005 season, and thinking that it was a defining moment in my life - sticking with a program that had completely collapsed and feeling like I was part of the rebuilding process as a result has been very gratifying to me.  I've been told by friends and family that I can be a total pain in the ass...but I'm also the first one they think to call when they need help; So I guess by disposition I'm more inclined to stick with a lousy team than to take a lot of pleasure out of rooting for a top program.

I do like trying to make new fans, last year I gave tickets for a couple games to an old high school classmate and her son; this year I gave Villanova and UNC tickets to my brother to take his stepson.  In both cases I think the kids are now hooked on Syracuse basketball...my brother keeps telling me how excited his stepson is to go to the UNC game.
