Settled in, doing well and has been enrolled at LaSalle for the summer currently taking two summer courses and bb and sc training daily even sometimes with POPS! BJ will definitely benefit from the year of sitting out preparing for 2016!!!!! Good luck orange unless you play LaSalle!couchburn

Best of luck. I see 16 and 5 in his future. Sometimes one just needs to be an explorer.

OGBJ,

Thanks for the update. Please keep us up on how BJ is doing as he furthers his career. I know I will always be rooting for him, and I'm sure others will too. I know he will excel as it is obvious that he was instilled with a great work ethic.

Good luck to you and BJ at LaSalle. I truly hope he does awesome. Thanks for handling the transfer situation with so much class - I can't tell you how impressed I am with that. It doesn't always happen that way when things sometimes take a turn that you maybe didn't expect.

Thanks for the update OGBJ. I know BJ's going to bust out when he sees the court again in 2016/17, no doubt in my mind.

You know even though I'd have to rout against LaSalle it would be pretty cool if somehow SU played them when BJ is a senior leader putting up big numbers.

Awesome thanks for the update !! BJ is going to rock out! I am hopeful he gets a chance to play in the tourney near the DC region in his tenure. I will def get ahold of some explorers gear to come out and support!

i'm positive BJ will develop into an excellent player. i sure hope he enjoys his new teammates and campus. best of luck.

Good to hear. Please keep us informed of BJ's progress.

33 years of coaching and we couldn't find the blessing to figure out he should have redishirted a year. Sometimes wisdom is just meant ot be overlooked. :noidea:

You might want to tap the breaks a little with your take on wisdom. The staff reportedly wanted to redshirt BJ, but he wanted to play.

"The SU coaches discussed the possibility of redshirting with Johnson and he balked at the idea, according to his father."

You were not at the meetings and when does a parent make decisions on whether or not a player is going to be redshirted or not. I'm not that powerful because if I was he would have still been there. Use some common sense when accessing the situation. Some mismanagement in this case but it's all good.

I'm fairly confident that BJ will be more like Keith Hughes and Bobby Lazor than Charles Gelatt and Sam Spann. He's a talented young man that may lead Lasalle in scoring his 2 seasons there.

Yo

dad, I remember suggesting that BJ take a red shirt year and you were insulted. And I know that under jb, they don't red shirt a kid if he doesn't want to.

Let me enlighten you on some things to clear things up. When your arguably the best player in the state and one of the youngest your confidence is high and you want to go somewhere to play. Before bj attended SU it was discussed that he could reshirt especially since he was young, talented but JB was not around all summer to see BJ prior to his arrival. So unknown to the coaches he proved that he could get minutes at the 2 during the Canada trip and after according to JB. I took it for what was said to me. As you and I both know, the team struggled to win the ocg therefore not given BJ a chance to play meaningful minutes. By the time the games were played it was too late to redshirt him. But don't you think for one minute that I came into JB's office demanding that he not reshirt BJ. Again I'm not that powerful to make that happen. I fully understand some of the benefits of being a year older because I was a player but I also understand talent when I see it and opportunities or the lack thereof.

Yo. Thanks for the tip on using more "common sense." Speaking of which, the stuff between those two quotation marks in my post that mentioned you were not in favor of redshirting were a direct quote from the article I linked. They were not my words, that's why they were in quotation. If the author of that article made that stuff up about you AND I knew he made it up, I would not have quoted him. That's how common sense works in my mind.

Best of luck to BJ

I don't need to be enlightened. I remember my conversations with you on this board quite clearly. Good luck.

Those articles as stated are after meeting with coaching staff and it was explained to me that he would be reshirting and that was what happened but as the season began the opportunities were not there to get minutes because we struggle d to win games early.
