Ashton Broyld

Not so fast on Broyld's redshirting. He already had a PG year, and will have this Spring to show what he can do. Maybe this is wishful thinking, but a creative OC would be looking for more wildcat in our attack plan.

well if he could throw I might agree but he's not very accurate. I think he's very david legreesque and think he'll end up being moved. But who knows, maybe he's the next cam newton.

Terrel Hunt is the first QB off the bench next year and I'm wagering a 3 year starter.

It's a balance really, our outside linebackers were flat out too small last year. Vaughn is a average size safety, I don't care what his weight and height our listed at, he isn't very big at all. Davis has the athleticism and will be great with another 152-20 pounds or so. I doubt he was 200 pounds this year.

IMHO Davis looked like what a safety should look like. Agreed he needs 15-20 more pounds as does probably Spruill.

This is also why I hate the thought of moving Mungwa up to linebacker. Mungwa to me seems like a prototype safety at 6-1 207

Yeah everybody wants fast linerbackers until they begin to get steamrolled every week. In a perfect world Davis has last year to redshirt. Spruill, Davis back on the outside would be nice with a big guy in the middle, I mean who knows about Miles. When I saw D Davis at the spring game last year I could not believe he was a linebacker. Get has a ton of talent but needs bulk. I saw Vaughn on the field after the scrimmage and felt the same.

240Lb Lbs are 2 slow for todays game, Unless they are 5 star Blue Chippers at the SEC and run a 4:4 Forty

I love Spruill's game, but no matter how you look at it, 216 is awfully light to play MLB.
Never understood the conflicting height and weight reports from 2011 to 2012 for Spruill. Listed at 6'3" 227 (I think) in 2011 and somehow skrinks to 6'1" 216 his soph year. He sure looks closer to 6'3" than 6'1" to me...weight is much harder to gauge, but whether it's 227 or 216, I still think it's too light for a MLB.

You can't have safeties acting like linebackers either with Spruill's height he could play at 235-240

Disagree with the 4.4 forty...Ray Lewis is pretty good and he "only" runs a 4.58. There are many other intangibles more important than pure speed i.e. lateral quickness, size and strength to take on blockers etc.

Doug Hogue and Derrell Smith seemed to make it work.

I think you're mistaken that guys that size run that fast anyways. few if any kids that size are running 4.4 -

Derrel Smith was probably more 4.7 than 4.5 and the real difference is splitting hairs. I don't think we need a MLB running sideline to sideline either. More like tackle to tackle, shed lineman and take on blockers at the POA. Our little lb's got steamrolled towards the end of the season being run right at.

Agreed, Hogue had great speed, Smith was just a damn good football player, great tackler and leader, average size and speed really. Not surprised he almost went to the Naval Academy, great kid

Well, I am high on Broyld. He is a big kid and a tough runner. Also a very good DE/LB. I don't see him redshirting, even if he is moved. Let's see how creative our coaches can be with Hunt & Broyld -- and Kinder for that matter.

Sorry if everybody already knew this, but I just saw that he is listed in the SU student directory.

He'd be real pissed if when he showed up Sunday and got unpacked that he wasn't a student.

Derrell Smith could just flat out hit.

I think we missed him more than any other defensive player this year.
