Athlon SU vs. FSU game analysis / prediction

This is one of those games which can really go either way. We either finally break through, or we settle for more of the same. My big worry...they get the ball first, score a 83 yard TD on the 1st or 2nd play from the get go. We battle back, just to have another brain fart in coverage, give up another back breaking 75 yard TD late in the game. Then the season rolls out as usual...play tough the next few games but lose, wear out at the end of the season with the usual beatings...

But, being the believer I am, I’m going to go with we finally have it together and do what we all think this Cuse team is capable of...finally!

I didn't say we shouldn't criticize him. I just think it's been a bit much lately. He scored on a play where he got out in space and made a guy miss against Clemson last year. He can be an important cog this week.

I also didn't say he was special or even above average.

Right, I know you didn't say exactly that. My post was meant as more in general that he's been getting a fair amount of praise for what he's accomplished.

It's probably too late, but I'd love to see him more as a WR than a RB. The TD against Clemson was off a pass where he broke a tackle, if I recall correctly.

I can see multiple scenarios playing out in the dome Sat...hopefully we can score first, score early and often. This is the game where I would love to see a favorable turn over margin in the first half and short fields. We should expect that FSU is going to see our young defensive backfield and either run double moves, overloads or 4/5 wide and challenge their lack of experience and discipline. Much will ride on the secondary’s performance Sat. No matter what, there is sure to be some fireworks going on up there. Definitely feels like we are due for a 3-0 start to the season.

I'm trying not to envision any scenario, as much as possible. Trying not to get too pumped up. I know that's stupid and crazy but if I pump myself up too much and we lose, my family will be miserable for days because I'll be cranky as...

But their speed at RB and WR are what scares me the most. The big plays are game breakers.

I have a weird feeling that someone in the SU/FSU game will have what the WR thinks is a pass and it's a lateral and the D will scoop and score. I don't which team will score but hopefully the SU guys are the smart ones and figure it out first!

We need to be in the game in the 4th quarter and hope our senior QB can lead us to victory. I worry simply about their speed, I imagine FSU will start throwing ball deep early and often, our D ends are going have to play with their ears pinned back and get pressure on the QB and contain Akers. This is a huge game, win this and we know we can have a shot against anybody not named Clemson and possibly Notre Dame. Lose a nail biter same applies, but get blown out with everybody thinking we have a shot to win it could be a disaster.

I really hope Dino doesn't defer the kickoff. FSU needs to be put in a hole ASAP.

I believe the offense goes super tempo in this one. They've definitely haven't been in normal tempo the first 2 games.

I think we can absolutely win this game, but I think FSU is much, much better than they have displayed in their first two weeks. The 24-3 blowout to Va Tech was a bit misleading -- they outgained the Hokies in total yards, it was the 5-0 turnover margin that did them in. And then I chalk up the Samford game to being disinterested.

Basically, I expect FSU to be FSU on Saturday.

I personally don't think it was misleading at all. I watched that game from start to finish and if Tech had a better QB under center, Florida State could have lost by 30 or more.

Agreed. At best without the turnovers it's an even game at home for FSU which it should have been. The yardage difference was a grand total of 8 yards. FSU had one drive the second half that went longer than 6 yards. It was a beat down once they fell behind.
