It’s getting a bit ridiculous how much better the Atlantic is than the Coastal.

You had the Jameis Winston years of FSU, followed by the Clemson reign as Bama’s only Title threat.

You had the most dynamic player in CFB at Louisville in Lamar Jackson.

This year, FSU and Ville are down, yet 8 games in, and in addition to Clemson, Syracuse and BC are ranked in the Coaches Poll (awaiting other polls).

Meanwhile, in the Coastal. Miami was back, last year, kinda, not sure anymore. Virginia Tech is ok, sometimes. UVA is now the leader in the Coastal clubhouse and only nationally ranked team on that side.

NC State is the 4th best team in the Atlantic and would probably win the Coastal.

Whats crazy OP is this is still the case despite FSU an Ville (teams considered 2 and 3 in the ACC very recently) going into the toilet.

Just shows you how bad the Coastal is.

Before I trash the ACC in general I think it should be pointed out that the teams picked to struggle this year ourselves included are pretty good. The 'bottom' of the ACC isn't dragging it down its the teams other than Clemson who were expected to be good. VT and Miami are disappointing for teams expected to contend.

ACC Atlantic
SEC West
B1G East

They all have the same imbalance vs their little sisters of the poor conference divisions

Without changing the current divisional format, I think Hokie Mark's proposal may be the best at getting some balance between the two:

Atlantic - FSU, Clemson, BC, UNC, UVA, GT, Duke
Coastal - Miami, VT, Louisville, SU, Pitt, NC State, Wake

Cross divisional rivals

FSU - Miami
Clemson - Louisville
BC - SU
GT - Pitt
UVA - VT
UNC - NC State
Duke - Wake

I, myself, still prefer a division-less structure with a 3-5-5 scheduling model, but if the current model is what will continue, this set-up seems way more balanced than what we have now.

Cheers,
Neil

Honestly the only significant difference between the divisions this year is Clemson
