Atmosphere

Brr! It's cold in here! There must be some Orange in the atmosphere! I said brr! It's cold in here! There must be some Orange in the atmosphere!

Close your eyes and visualize this. You’re in the Carrier Dome. The house is filled. The feeling is electric. The noise is deafening. You have a defense that is relentless. You have a special teams that has been well-coached. You have an offense that will not huddle and you have a game that is faster than you’ve ever seen on turf. Open your eyes … That is going to be a reality.

Now the only part I feel he misled us on is the defense being relentless. I do see we are venturing out of the Tampa 2 more than we are in it which is really good but when do we become Clemson relentless. Force offenses to change. Be aggressive.

Just like the offense...small, yearly improvements. The defensive side of this cake is also not finished baking yet.

I have that "big game" feeling this morning.
With the 7 pm start, the chance to lock in a bowl, the extra mood enhancement a late start provides, 41,000 fans, Its going to be LOUD !!!!
If we can make the ground shake...we will KILL them!

I’d love for award to disguise blitzes like Shafer did. Basically if a blitz is shown and there’s an audible by the O, there’s rarely a change up by our D to counter the audible

I will be loud - that I can promise.
Someone needs to get on their movie clip game. I feel like there have to be countless applicable clips.

(The is more directed at everyone. Your post just got me thinking.)

Years ago I watched the Jets and the Falcons in Shea Stadium on a day just like today - steady rain and around 40 degrees. Coldest I have ever been in my life. I LOVE the Dome!

I would think the O would take longer develop than the D.

3-0's on O strain the D. The two are very related IMHO.

Our D is better than many people think.
The talent is, but not the scheme. The scheme is a wobbling duck

We must have different standards. I would have absolutely agreed with you in year #1. But I thought that last year's defense was incredibly improved, and I think that this year's defense is even better. I'm not quite sure that our LB corps is where it needs to be, but our secondary is great through my eyes, as is the DL. I think that we're very good at stopping the pass, we're solid on 3rd down, and we can put pressure on the QB. A little more weight in the pants, and I think that we'll be able to stop the run as well.

Look at the yardage and scoring defense numbers. Compare them to up tempo teams that are successful. Our numbers are not good. Turnover improvement is due to talent. Same goes for third down efficiency and red zone efficiency (DL). Our talent is outperforming the scheme. Our real numbers stink still. Team will never win nine games or more with the 70th ranked scoring defense in the country.

Who are you comparing the numbers to?

And last I saw, we were in the low 60’s for most metrics (not pace adjusted). Pace adjust and account for the added stress in the D from the offense, and I can see ya being in the 40’s. At least in my head, that puts us between the top half of teams and the top 3rd of teams. That’s not elite, but it’s certainly not bad.

WVU, WSU, and Baylor at similar points in their installments. Our scheme is not good, our talent is.

I think that the D went out of their way to make me sound dumb today. But then they came together when they needed to. I'm honestly not sure what to make of it.
