Austin Rivers leaving

The kid has a different personality that you would see at Duke and i think that played a factor internally on thier team this year, and no doubt the dude has a huge ego.

But that being said, The dude can play ball. He can play you can tell when you watch him thier is something special about him i cant hate him that he went to duke

Best of luck, young man

Combining their early exit from the tournament with Rivers exit...I can safely say that the Duke Mystique is gone.

They have fallen back into the pack...

Duke might be the 4th best team in ACC next year with the 3 McDs NC State is getting, plus Florida State continuing their dominance in that league.

Bye bye Dook.

Can somebody clear up, are we in the Acc for 2012-2013 or the following year 2013-2014 ?

Watching him in the High School all star games last year, I had one thought,
"I would not want to play with that ball hog, he makes Kevin McHale look generous."

Kinda surprised, he certainly has no financial need to leave early with his dad making millions. Thought he would probably stay 2 years at Duke. Just love how the NBA has become so willing to take all these kids whose game isn't ready and pay them millions with guaranteed 3 yr contracts to sit on the bench and play marginal minutes. Then the owners/GM's cry that they aren't making any money.

They're greedy, it's the "if we don't take him someone else will" mentality. And then what if he is a star in 3 years? We missed out! Oh no!

I don't like Duke, but I am never going to count them out. K is a great great great coach, probably the best of all time. Though I also saw they are losing the Plumlee who isn't a senior, right?

Didnt Duke win it all 2 years ago? Hard to count them out of the equation just yet.

granted i am by no means a basketball expert, but the only thing i could tell after watching rivers play is that i would not want him on any team i coached (i don't coach) or support. he is one of those kids an offense is made around, when in reality, it shouldn't be. kid has no left hand. the offense was focused on getting him shots which took away from duke having a productive offense. you build an offense like that when you have a once in a lifetime playmaker. unfortunately, rivers is not.

watching duke this year, was like watching a mediocre high school basketball team that sole offense is trying to give their star player limelight, when in reality, their star player isn't that good. very un-dukish.

rivers would go undrafted if not for his name

Personally, I'd stop at one "great" but that's just me.

He leaves with one lasting impression, that winning shot against UNC

They had a pretty damn good season considering that they lost 3 legitimate POY candidates last season - I thought they would be out of the top 10 all season.

Wonder if they'll start shopping Rondo again ;)

I think he'll do well in the NBA fwiw.

I also thought James Harden would do okay, so I'm an expert in these things! :)
