Austin Wilson has won the backup QB position

Tim Lester says Austin Wilson is backup quarterback for #Syracuse as of now. It could change but "usually doesn't."

Austin Wilson is Terrel Hunt's primary backup for Friday's Villanova game, QB coach Tim Lester says.

Tim Lester just broke Hunt's focus with a visor toss in his direction. Visor tossing, must be game week.

I have to say I am not surprised. Wilson is the least mobile but by far the best thrower of the three backup candidates. I give him credit in sticking with SU through the Zack Allen recruitment and a coaching change. Also I am sure all three are good people, but Austin was incredibly nice to my son after the last spring game so we have been rooting for him.

Ashton Broyld lines up next to Wilson on the snap, not sure who will get the ball. Just dreaming, I know, but it could be awesome.

Austin has the best arm on the team, but let's hope we don't have to see him this year. I think Hunt will thrive this year and congrats to Austin for winning the #2 battle!

Since he was 4th the first week of August, he's done good. Happy for him, I think he's a gamer

I am definitely not an expert. But from what I saw at the Fort Drum scrimmage, AW deserves the 2. Well done.

My extremely untrained eye was very impressed with Austin's arm when I saw him for a few plays in the spring game.

His arm definitely looks good, throws a nice ball, which is a good tool to start with.

Drew Allen threw a nice ball too, which just made it easier for the other team to catch it.

No offense to Wilson, but Lester's point system is what brought us Drew Allen to start last season. Need I say more?

That discounts Lester's ability to learn from his mistakes.

My guess is that nobody is more shocked than the staff.

And I don't know if that is in a good or bad way.
