I like AJ a lot but I also like Austin Wilson, who I think is the team's best passer. I would like to have seen him given a shot today if he's healthy. I also hope he gets a real shot at the position going into next season.

If nothing else the qb contest for next year will be wide open. If the Miami kid shows up it will be 4 of them slugging it out.

Five, but who's counting.

Wilson has a good arm but he can't move to save his life. And with our beat up o-line and so many back-up o-linemen in I wouldn't want to put a kid coming off a concussion back there. He would have gotten drilled most likely and who knows if he is totally healed from the concussion.

Wilson would of been sacked 35 times and Stern is right could of been seriously hurt. Unfortunately we are just not a very good offensive team no matter who the QB would be.

Depends on how you look at it. You can audible at the line when you see blitz. Run screens when they are blitzing- yes, even bubble screens. 3 step drop passes also let you beat it without getting sacked.

Not yesterday with that line. Wilson would have been a smudge on the turf.

Lol...who knew it was that simple. Just more audibles at the line. Except they didn't blitz much. They just manhandled our O-line.

took the words right out of my mouth.

I wasn't supporting him because of dissatisfaction with Long. I think they are both good and I'd like to see both of them, although Stern's point about an immobile quarterback coming off a concussion with a patchwork line is a bad combination is a good one.

That's probably why we won't see him. Which I understand. But since we're in audition for next year mode, I think the competition should start now, don't wait until Spring ball. Duke's defense shouldn't scare anyone, let's give them all some run. It really doesn't matter at this point.

I don't believe he was cleared to play - Kimble was #2 on the published depth chart.

Shafe was saying int he pre-game interview that he was practicing with the team this week. I assumed that meant he was availalble. I may have misinterpreted it.

It's not simple. But there is a way to get around blitzing pressure. I agree that the pressure from the d tackles you can't help. That was the line getting abused. Trying to say that a running qb helps but you can deal with some types of pressure with a less mobile qb

true but inexperienced QB's may not recognize what the defense is doing and not audible or audible to wrong play

The only thing that slows down a pass rush is play calling. Use their aggressiveness against them. It is done every week. Use the quick passing game, draws, RB screens, all quick developing plays.

We used a lot of play action and they were too quick for that. Lucky we didn't get AJ killed.

I took it to mean that he was allowed to be limited in practice, but not cleared for full contact. At least, that is how I interpreted his being allowed to practice, but not being the backup on the depth chart. Of course, what do I know? :)

Confusing when they suit him up.
