Babers Halftime speech

Win more recruiting battles (starting this month, then for the 2017 cycle), and the game results will follow. Have faith, Dino will do that.

I agree. My point is that no matter how good or bad the speech, it's wins on the field that will be the king.

I want wins on the field and he could have sang she bang for all I care. One speech in the Dome doesn't make a coach, good or bad, I want the results on the field...period.

I think everyone would agree with that and hasn't said anything differently. People that thought the speech was just ok were commenting on the speech itself and not his coaching.

Look at all the basketball onlys with their blank stares. :vomit:

How do you know they are basketball onlys? Most I know do both sports. I know a few basketball onlies but I know some football onlies too.

And some are commenting that they don't give a rip about a speech. Both equally acceptable in this thread.

That's true too, but that's not what some of the posts said.

That's cause at halftime no one pays attention to what is going on on the court. Plus a majority of last nights crowd was probably basketball only folk who came out to see Carolina Blue versus the Orange crew Edit. A halftime speech does not indicate future success. As long as he didn't Broyld the crowd I could care less how his speech came off. I care about wins in the fall, not halftime basketball speeches in January

SU actually did a good job of minimizing people being out of their seats. Just before half they announced again he'd be introduced and then as soon as the half ended, Coyle was on the court with the mike. There was no minute or two delay.

Thought it was great! I think this time I don't need a rah rah followed by a dud season and I think that Babers is going to get us the wins.

He strikes me more as a do'er rather than a talker even though I loved his presser and this halftime speech.

It was fine, one minute of pep rally material.

Press conferences "matter" a couple seasons in when tough times come. That's when Robinson, Marrone and Shafer all became unhinged.

Some of you will complain about everything. Get a grip.

Lol. Yea, Jakes a big complainer.

Some people thought it was so so. Big deal, it's not an indictment on anything else. It's an opinion on a meaningless pep talk. Maybe there shouldn't have even been a thread? Funny how some thought it was just ok and people take offense to that. I haven't seen anyone who thought it was just ok respond to a ouster who liked it and say What and take offense to the post. Much ado about nothing just because some didn't think it was great.

I always thought Dougs rolling up the sleeves was awkward and cheesy. Never understood all th excitement around the speech. That said wasn't expecting much from this one either.

Same here. Then again, I'm not a fan of all that rah rah BS, so I'm pretty much not going to care about any of these speeches or pep rallies.

The thing with Marrone is his sideline demeanor couldn't have been more different than his "rah rah" Dome intro suggested...and that was fine with me. I kind of miss laughing at the "MARRONE'S GOTTA SHOW SOME EMOTION AND GO NUTS ON THE SIDELINES!" posts.

Speech was pathetic. I was expecting machine guns, bikini clad babes, explosions, dinosaurs, and Ferraris. Might as well fire him now. smh

You're right. SU did the right thing making that announcement but it still didn't prevent a lot of fans from milling around, leaving for concessions and talking over Babers. It's a tough spot to make a speech. Even when Melo had his jersey retired, it didn't bring the house down. And if you looked at where our biggest supporters sit, just about all of them, except CTO, didn't stick around for Babers speech.

Oh, I know. People still did get up. But I minimized it some. Another tough part is still the dome acoustics. Especially if your in the 3rd level it is hard to clearly hear everything. I actually thought it came across better listening to the video of it rather than live.

Why mock people? Nobody said it was bad. Which post got you all upset?

Was in attendance. Quite a few sustained boos could be heard from the 300 level when Coyle was announced & even when Babers was announced & during his speech. This was odd to me. I'm guessing they were still upset over the coaching change & probably just a few miserable folks who would boo any public figure.

I held my breath when Babers initially didn't have the mic on...it looked, for a second, like yet another in the long line of SUAD mishaps.
