Babers stats

The more I read and see about Babers the mre I like him. Coyle.. go get him :) Would be a great choice for 'Cuse.

I wonder who he would bring with him from his current staff if Babers where to come here?

He took over an already good team with Bowling Green. I believe they won 10 the year before he got there and he then won 9 and will win 8-10 this year.
With E Illinois, he took over a 2-9 team and made the playoffs the next year at 7-4 (I believe) and then did even better the next year and won a playoff game.

One thing I do like about Babers: he's 54 years old. That's not an age at which you're going to be jumping around a lot. Better chance of landing him longer term than someone like Ash or, obviously, Frost.

yep. exactly. but young enough to stick around.

I, state my name, do hereby solemnly swear that if we hire Babers and it doesn't improve our offense to the point where we're winning more games, I will never make another comment on what type of coach we should hire.

We have to try this model. We have a Dome.

If he doesn't pan out, I say we go Special Teams Coordinator next time. Or it, let's pick an AFL or Rugby coach.

Yes that's true, however the guy has been a nomad for the last 25 years. His longest stint anywhere is like 3 years

He'd have to do amazing things at Cuse for Big time programs to come calling for a guy pushing 60.

For the people who follow recruiting...

You know who is happiest if it winds up being Dino Babers? Devon Clarke, the 6-3 safety from Florida who tried to commit to SU but was told to hold off. He's since moved on with his new favorite to...Bowling Green.

So now he gets, potentially, the Bowling Green coach, who was already recruiting him hard, at the school he wanted to commit to, Syracuse. He's going to do backflips if Dino is, in fact, the hire.

before he got to eastern illinois
326 ypg

2nd year
590 ypg

on to bowling green

before he got there
459 ypg (pretty good!)

2nd year
566 ypg
It's only because he's working with five star talent.

BTW - he can't recruit!

Just asked this in another thread, but what do you think about his recruiting? Is he a good one? I honestly don't know either way?

I readily admit, I don't know anything about Dino's reputation as a recruiter.

I'm rooting for you Devon.

I assume our young offensive skilled players would be excited also.

I'd like to know how his offense did in electric football. If he got guys to score in that game, I'll be impressed. That my friends is scheming.

Loved watching BGSU this year. Not sure what level recruit the WR's were, but kids like Roger Lewis, Gehrig Dieter and Ronnie Moore are studs in that offense. If we get Babers, I'd expect the offense to really ramp up in a year or two.
