Babers to recruits(vid)

Yeah he had me until Rutgers...

Great speech......don't legitimize the 'Girls...nobody should ever go there. Kids should choose to play at the University of Syracuse or University of Phoenix or Trump U or Alverno college before going to Rutgers

While , i believe we all know there is not enough power 5 talent up here for just the teams mentioned(let alone the other powers OSU and MU MSU) ... It's a hell of a PR move !!

What i love most about HCDFnB, is his confidence. From that first presser on the Hill, the first intro at the b-ball game, he’s absolutely always KNOWN what he’s gonna do here.
You get the vibe from him like “You guys can do what you want, where you want. But whether you go to those other schools or not, here at the Cuse, we WILL win”!
That’s charisma, confidence, and cujones...all in one man. Thank goodness we got him!

It's almost like fight the first battle. Get them to stay. Other coaches will be on board. Then its fight the other schools once you get past that. He knows he has ha great product/pitch. The other schools like army or the girls are going to agree because they are eliminating the south as a competitor, it's the lesser of two evils. They will have a hard time comparing though

Eh. It was a good try by Dino, but not sure if it sold. He had to pull out an applause on multiple occasions.

Anywayz, an excellent plug for Cuse. I, for one, believe in the message he was giving even if it seems the recruits weren't sure about it.

(and now I shall prepare myself to get murdered for this post)

Not because it wasn’t a good message, but because most of those kids and their parents, had probably never heard a HC from the Northeast talk like that before.
It’s been generations since there’s been a viable NC competitor from the NE. What Dino was saying to them was revolutionary, and different. They were probably thinking: “Did he just say that? Man, is he cool, or what”?
I guarantee you, Franklin will be stealing this w/ recruits starting...immediately! Lol

Can't watch the video right now, but I'm hoping it ended like this:

I love how he has big time expactations when alot of the football fan base is small minded (not the die hard msg board guys, girls) I hate this small minded mind set. Especially when the Dome is incredibly dangerous. I really think people are too negative around here, (Syracuse Area) Why not Dream Big? We are a Match made in heaven. Dinos Style and our Dome. If you arent aiming for a National Championship, what's the point? Have the guts to say it, and go out and try to do it. I cant remember in my lifetime a Syracuse football coach being so bold to say, why not Syracuse? Why cant we win a National Championship? It's always funny until they found out we are real. And College football knows we are real. Time to make this a trend and finish this fight! Finish in the top 25 this year and keep being consistent! The big games will come if you show consistency

To be fair, it only matters if the 20- 30 kids he was talking to heard him. Many prolly thinking, OMG, that's a college coach! Many coaches don't allow you to speak when they're talking. They heard him.

Hell of a lot more kids he was talking to than that.

Afterwards, he said there were at least 20 p5 kids there. That's what I'm referring to.

And If some of the other 2000 bring back some of what he said, to their respective teams? Even better.

Let's look at the national champions since the BCS started in 1998. The champions north of the Mason-Dixon line are in italics:

1998 Tennessee
1999 Florida State
2000 Oklahoma
2001 U of Miami
2002 Ohio State
2003 LSU or USC
2004 USC
2005 Texas
2006 Florida
2007 LSU
2008 Florida
2009 Alabama
2010 Auburn
2011 Alabama
2012 Alabama
2013 Florida State
2014 Ohio State
2015 Alabama
2016 Clemson
2017 Alabama
2018 Clemson

That's 21 seasons. Let's look at the 21 seasons before that:
1977 Notre Dame
1978 Alabama or USC
1979 Alabama
1980 Georgia
1981 Clemson
1982 Penn State
1983 U of Miami
1984 BYU
1985 Oklahoma
1986 Penn State
1987 U of Miami
1988 Notre Dame
1989 U of Miami
1990 Colorado or Georgia Tech
1991 U of Miami or Washington
1992 Alabama
1993 Florida State
1994 Nebraska
1995 Nebraska
1996 Florida
1997 Nebraska or Michigan

So we've gone from having 11 of 25 national champions over a 21 year period be from the north and from 7 different schools to having 2 of 22 national champions in a 21 year period from the north and both from the same school.

My theory: recruiters used to say that you recruit size and strength from the north and speed and agility from the south. that's because northern kids were indoors half the year, where they would likely be working out with weights. the southern kids would be out doors for 12 months so they would be running around all the time. But when schools started using weight rooms as recruiting tools, everyone had to have one and the southern players got to be as big as the northern ones. If everyone is big and strong, then the difference between players has to be something else: speed and agility. the northern schools have tried to recruit in the south to get their share of those qualities but the southern schools have gotten most of the a-list recruits while the northern teams have gotten mostly the b-listers. the southern teams thus have an advantage in speed and agility that's why their top teams have come to dominate the top teams in the north.

Dino is trying to overcome that with his system, his venue and his personality.

I like the idea but what does he say to kids down south that might want to stay home and play?

If we’re being honest, most of the top Southern kids wanna stay home or in the vicinity, unless it’s to go to a OSU, ND, Penn State, or hopefully us in the near future.
What NE schools usually get are the 2nd-3rd tier kids, whereas the southern schools get the very top tier of northern kids.
What Dino’s saying is those TOP tier NE kids could stay home & win a NC, instead of heading South to do so. He’s planting the “possibility factor” into their thinking- something most of those kids had probably never thought of.
