It wasn't the zone, it was our offense. Plain and simple. They scored less than 55 points. If this was a normal SU offense, we would have won by 15. The zone wasn't the issue. Yes they made three, but they also had a lot of turnovers, and shot 41% total. A team with even a pulse offensively would have won this game. No other winning team today scored less than 60 points. That's why we lost.

m2m can take superior athletes but still get out athleticised and outshot. Look at Mercer FGCU.
zone can have superior athletes and can be outshot and beat off the pass as well.

They had 4 more rebounds but also had 5 more turnovers, fouls and foulshots were about even. They shot 3 percent better.

In the end it was anybodys game we missed the last few shots that is all. We made some good defensive stops and were going at them on the offensive end just not enough to win.

We shot 40 percent but our offense wasn't balenced. We couldn't score a bucket without ennis setting something up.

We have had 4 scorers all year and two of them were held to 2 points tonight. That should tell you everything you need to know.

I suppose Charles said the same thing when Duke lost to Lehigh and Mercer - must have been their mtm letting those inferior teams stick around. Anyone who takes anything Charles says regarding college basketball with any seriousness, should expect that their post will be treated with the lack of respect it deserves. There are people out there who will always think mtm is the only real defense. How damn boring college basketball would be if every team played the same way. Come on! Any freaking defense will let teams stick around, if you can't make shots. In the games we've lost, it hasn't been the defense. It's been the offense...
