Beadle and her awesome husband made the long trip to the Last Frontier. Hopefully she will post the details of their Alaskan Adventure, because they were able to see a ton while they were here (Actually, I think they are in Denali now).

We were able to meet up for a quick couple drinks Sunday afternoon a nice little place on my side of town "The Pump House". It was great meeting her, her husband, and their friend from Fairbanks. She wasn't hard to spot when I walked in, as she was rocking an Orange Cuse shirt.

Living so far away, it's always a treat to meet up with people and talk SU for a while.

Peggy, Thanks for taking time out of your busy trip to hang out with the ol troop, girlfriend troop, and random Canadian friend for a while! Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip!!

I visited Alaska for the first time this summer. It was an absolutely SPECTACULAR trip...I highly recommend it to everyone!!

I might have looked CuseTroop up except I was with impressionable teenagers and I couldn't take the chance.

Guys, Alaska is absolutely spectacular, almost as spectacular as its resident, CuseTroop! We had six days of topaz blue skies, and have seen humpback whales, orcas, seals, moose, and just about an hour ago a mama grizzly and her 2 cubs. Alaska has ocean, mountains, valleys, and I really do think I caught a glimpse of Russia! Its one flaw is that it is really REALLY far away. I don't know how our boy is able to jet back and forth the way he do, but I give him great respect .

Tomorrow night we fly back and by Friday night I will be in my proper seat at the Louisville game. Hopefully, I will reunite with Kid Dyne-O-Mite and his ridiculously lovely girlfriend in the Cuse when they come for the B.U. game.

Adam, I am glad I survived our meeting and look forward to surviving more!

Those long flights are very easy to do when you are welcomed by thousands of SU fans when you land, and have amazing memories and stories to think about on the flight back home.

Glad you guys had fun! Swing by anytime!

Ok guys, just doesn't get any better than this. Thanksgiving time, 1988, went to the Great Alaska Shootout with my brother - in -law. Can't remember the airline (US AIR?) from Detroit to Anchorage. It was a jumbo jet with a spiral staircase. At the top of the stairs was a bar, and a round table seating about 8, At the table were about 3 or 4 SU fans, including myself, along with Dick Vitale, Michigan coach Bill Frieder, and SU trainer, Don Lowe. Multiple drinks and multiple laughs. Talked hoops all the way. When we got to the hotel, there was a huge earthquake, Sherman and Rony on the 4th floor went nuts. We went dog sledding, went to a host house for GREAT Thanksgiving dinner. Six days of pure fun. We did lose final to AZ. Wonderful memory.

The only benefit to paying the bills is now having a couple hundred thousand "reward points" saved up for travel. Alaska is high on my list of places to visit, and I would definitely drop by for at least a few hours to buy Adam a drink (or probably two ...)

I've been to Fairbanks, Anchorage and Juneau. Loved them all and everything in between. If I'd found Alaska in my youth I probably wouldn't be here today.

I haven't made it to Fairbanks yet, but I've been to Anchorage and Juneau on two separate work trips. Juneau is just breathtaking. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get out of downtown Anchorage to do any real sight-seeing. Fun-fact: the city of Juneau is larger than the state of Delaware.

This is an incredible story. Do jumbo jets with spiral staircases and bars still exist for domestic flights? I've flown 100 times all over the country the past 10 years and I've never been on a plane like that.

Man, I wish.. My buddy was just telling me about these a few days ago. Back in the day there was a direct flight from NYC to Fairbanks once a week on one of those planes. Those Fairbanks to Seattle, or Anchorage to Chicago legs are horrible. I'd kill for a giant plane, with a bar!

Likely referring to the Boeing 747. Holds over 400 passengers. Boeing is going to discontinue building them very soon. They are now used primarily by airlines outside of the U.S.A.
I've flown in them several times. They have often been called, "cattle cars" by those who hated being on a plane with that many passengers. Seating was usually two seats on each side of the plane with five seats in the middle.

I was at that tournament. Remember that pizza guy representative that was out on the court and would not shut up and even delayed one game at half time? Sorry we did not meet. There was a well known 7' player from the Caribbean on one of the teams who was completely freaked out by the tremor and wanted to go home. Tremors are not uncommon in Anchorage. I know people that were there for the big one on Good Friday. One of them had a pet parrot named Sport that ended up with a black eye. I remember hoiw scared Steve Kerr was of Sherman. He passed whenever Sherman got within 15'.

Alaska Airlines used to give out glasses of free wine every time they failed to make a landing on first try, which was a lot in those days before GPS and on-board radar, ground avoidance system, etc. Now they just charge a lot and give out little bags of mini-pretzels. It is a microaggression.

I've been finding the best deals on American, and using my Alaska mileage number to keep my MVP Gold up and running. If I ever have a year where I don't hit MVP, I'm switching over to American.

It's typically half the price.

No American down here in Juneau; just Delta and Alaska. Wish American was here.

None here either. Buy through American, but you fly Alaska until either Seattle, or Chicago (Or wherever your first Outside is) then switch to American.
