Growing up in Boston, I was never really a fan of any of the college teams. It's just not a college sports town. To a certain extent, this probably holds true for the Northeast in general.

Sure, I think part of the problem with the NE is the number of major cities (NY, Boston, DC, Philly) that have pro sports teams. Cities without pro teams are bound to do better in terms of college support.
