BC now 0-3 after losing to Toledo tonight

I thought BC would be pretty good this season. Looks like Donahue could be canned. Providence in OT isn't a bad loss for them, but losing to Toledo at home, and UMass in the Boston Garden hurts.

And BC isn't even considered one of the worst teams either, they were picked to finish 8th in conference this season and were supposed to be a possible tournament team. At least 8 of the 15 suck and the season is only a week old.

That idiot DiFilippo killed their football and hoops programs because of his massive ego. Firing Skinner and Jagz for dumb reasons cut off the momentum they had going for them. Donahue can't seem to get any of the Mass kids to stay home

They're very promising lmfao.

Let's remember who we're talking about. Most last place finishes in history of the Big East conference, and the only charter member of that league to not make a Final 4 during that era (or in bc's case, ever).

The acc should apologize for making them SU's "rival".

If BC continues to be bad, it's in SU's best interest to add UConn to the conference. I know people hate UConn for various reasons but having a true rival and a second northeast power would only strengthen the hold of NYC and buzz the ACC could create.

We are going to be playing 2 of Georgetown, Villanova, St. John's each year who cares if SU needs a true rival in UConn my goodness. NO to future expansion without Notre Dame bringing their football team into the ACC and no to UConn. I could careless if BC is good or bad they are a Northeast game for Northeast alums to get to each year, and with Louisville coming in next year we will them as a rival as they have been good. Plus 2 of those 3 former Big East rivals enough about UConn.

I understand some animosity toward ucon as well as potential downsides to adding them to the acc, but if you're going to talk about games for northeast alum/fans to go to, having an extra game is not a bad thing. Plus the caliber of the opponent should not be dismissed so casually, you may not care but a lot of would-be ticket buyers would probably feel differently, preferring to see SU against a quality opponent instead of a sh!tty one.

Edit--agree that lville projects as SU's chief rival for the foreseeable future.

BC is basically the new PC game in a better city.
Villanova/St. John's is the UConn game.
Georgetown every 2 years is fine.
Plus, we will be playing in a preaseason tournament in the NYC area probably atleast 2 times in 4 year cycles. Playing UConn is not necessary and the ACC doesn't need them. There will be games for Northeast alums. BC being average isn't a reason to add UConn.

Storz = useless in the ACC
  • New England is covered
  • SU does not need another P-5 competitor for recruits (BB and FB)
  • With quality in-conference opponents and GT, Nova, SJU, etc., SU doesn't need to add the puppies to that mix in order to compile a good RPI/SOS
  • them

Keeping Maryland in the ACC would have solved a lot of issues with having another Northeast team.

All you had to do was see how many SU fans attended the Maryland game to know that our fans are hungry for local games and competition.

Rutgers would have made sense.

It's so much more important for SU to keep ties and play games against Villanova, Georgetown and St. John's. All are in key recruiting grounds and UConn isn't. We won't miss them in the least.

This is a better argument than "who cares if bc sucks, they're a game ne alums can go to". i would argue that sj/nova replaces the gaps left by, well, sj/nova as opposed to ucon. There are going to be less games for ne/tristate fans to go to
though.

I already stated that I get the potential downsides to adding ucon, my point was that most fans with limited opportunity to see the team probably do care about the caliber of the opponent.

Maybe it's just me because I live in the NY Metro area but SU owns this area and the fact that we are only playing 1 non conference game in this area all year concerns me. NYC Metro has the largest concentration of SU alumni and I just think it would be more beneficial to the basketball brand and its fans to have 1 more game (that means something) that isn't 7+ hours away from NYC. With some people's responses saying we don't need UConn, New England is covered makes me feel like everyone lives in the Carolina's. after the honeymoon is over, I have a feeling people are going to realize that we are FAAAR away from almost every school in the ACC and will wish that we had a couple more northeast schools in the league.

What will be interesting is how does the league treat SU? How do the refs treat SU?

The ACC has always been about tobacco road, there could likely be some growing pains adding SU & Pitt.

BC doesn't count because BC doesn't count.

"Killed the football program"? Little bit of hyperbole , no? After going 2-10 last year, the new coaching staff this year has BC bowl eligible with 2 games left to play. Expect the new AD will make similar decisions for BB that will get them competitive in BB as well. The FB fixes were made this year. No reason to think similar fixes won't be made next year for BB. For the remainder of this BB season, let's see how it plays out.

The Spaz era was BC's version of the GRob era here. The firing of Jagz was awful and I don't think it's hyperbole to say that it ruined a lot of momentum BC had built up. Much like SU failed to get someone to follow McNabb, BC was unable (and is still unable) to get a QB to follow Ryan. Congrats on getting bowl eligible- Addazio looks like he is fixing things.

Hoops isn't going to be an easy fix. Running Skinner out of town after his success made no sense. BC has zero recruiting in the NE area right now. Look at the kids from Mass who are starting at top 25 programs- one could argue that a starting 5 of these kids would be a top 10 team. I'm not sure who will be the next coach, but they have a lot of work ahead of them in terms of dealing not only with the ACC schools, but UMass, PC, and UConn.

I would love to see Georgetown come to the ACC. I know expansion seems to be set, but I would strongly favor Georgetown entering the league over the likes of Uconn or anyone else for that matter. Anyone know if there is any possibilities of the ACC adding Georgetown?

0. And I doubt that they would even want to come to the ACC.

I don't know if BC had 1,000 people at their game last night, which they barely managed to hold on for the win against FAU. Outside of Hanlan, that team is awful.

Will Harvard be favored when they look to extend their winning streak vs bc?
