BC postgame thoughts

When the announcing crew mentioned George not sliding over to give Kingz an outlet , as George ball watched standing in front of Red, while Red did nothing or said nothing that to me was the perfect moment to highlight of why he isn’t a HC. It’s something you see mentioned at all levels of hoops and good coaches seeing it in the moment as it’s right there.
I tuned in at halftime and watched us go down 6 points with not even a word from Autry, JJ, George, Donnie, and the rest. They just stood around lookin like jerks as BC made plays.

The most reasonable comment I saw over our 3 game win streak was that his team will win or lose based on Donnie. Pretty accurate.

I think the rest of the ACC will just pound Donnie into the ground until he falls apart and then watch George and JJ self destruct on their own.

Random question: I missed the first half and the beginning of the second. What happened to Sadiq White? (Not that it would have mattered.)
Dude is getting out matched physically. It was a concern, but his body is not mature yet and he isn’t a good enough scorer to overcome it yet.

Absolutely they had no game plan today. BC didn’t even play that well.
as bad as BC is they excel at 1 on 1 lock down defense

Su can usually find a mismatch to exploit...but donnie was bottled up, kiyan didnt score, jj didnt offer much, george had his worst game of the season, betsey was marked out of the game and only got 2 shots

the "gameplan" has always been to just go to the players that can get theirs 1 on 1 - but the only guy that could in this game was kingz and the rest were bottled up...and this team is horrible at findng kingz

they had to realize that the 1 on 1 - alternate who gets it strategy that they use last 10 minutes of every game - wouldnt work vs THIS opponent

even though BC sucks...SU's approach literally plays right into their hands

BC wants oppponents to try to go 1 on 1 against them!

if SU hadnt gone iso and played team ball they would won by a lot

they are way more talented

Could have made up for it by making the front end of that godforsaken 1 and 1.

This is the most pissed off I’ve been after a loss in a long time.
E15 I am feeling the same exact way. Only thing I can think of is bc this was supposed to be an easy win. I cannot recalibrate and I just got in a fight w my family bc I told them to go out to eat without me bc I would be miserable. Would have been a fight either way but I think I let them off easy

What programs do we monitor for coaches? George Mason and St. Louis?
Yes, just those two. Either coach and we’ve made a good hire. Schertz is the better coach out of the two, but either are significant upgrades over Red. Skinn might be more attainable for us, and possibly a slightly better fit given his Mid-Atlantic presence

tallish but right now truly a wing three. no outside threat. but he could abuse a smaller defender inside.

I would hope and expect a guy like Schertz could be attainable… all depends on who else is in the market for a replacement. But as of now we are #1 I would think. Hope UNC doesn’t crap the bed. He is from Brooklyn, and I don’t see any scenario where SLU can compete with SU…

What a nightmare to watch in person.
-George absolutely killed us. Both on offense and defense. All he needs to do is take care of the ball and take good shot shots. For some reason that doesn’t seem to be enough for him. And the problem is that we don’t have a back up point guard to speak of.
-one of the most painful losses I can recall. If Donnie makes those two free throws or even one we probably win. If we fouled before the three-pointer, we likely win.
-the referees killed us. Don’t get me wrong. We should’ve won anyway. But we also had some inexplicably stupid fouls just like at the end of the Florida State game. That trend cannot continue. But we would’ve escaped if we hadn’t been repeatedly screwed by the officials.
-no clue why we challenged that call when it was so clearly out of bounds.
-our bench was absolutely pathetic. Not one guy who came in helped us.
-the only bright spot on an absolute miserable day was how well Kingz played. Yet somehow he was on the bench with three minutes to go in favor of Betsey, who had given us nothing and is not even close to the defender Kingz is. I can’t imagine what the strategy was there.
-i’m sick. I wish I didn’t care as much as I do.

Nait officially had 7 turnovers, but he really had 9.

-There was one play where he was lost amongst the trees and instead of pulling it out he got stuffed. That is a turnover.

-And then that like 1 on 2 possession where he attempted some bizarre circus shot. That is a turnover.

I’m with you. I had to go for a walk. And that didn’t even help. I still have not shaken this loss.

I would also say Siena but I don’t think the timing is right to go that route.

Skin needs to make NCAA first. If he does it this year and wins a game I am all in. look at Nate Oats and Kelsey. Those guys went to multiple NCAAs and Oats won games.

Thoughts on John Groce? Wasn’t good at Illinois, but has been great at Akron.

really sick of the ref stuff . what do you expect every game 10-1 our favor ? on their floor no less ?
here's the hard facts. syracuse has committed 288 fouls. our opponents 350. does that seem biased ?
again syracuse has shot 425 fts our opponents 342. just drop this nonsense ok ? we're getting the calls.

His shot selection is so poor that he effectively turns the ball over with his poor decision-making by taking an unmakeable shot. To your point, there were at least two times where his shot was blocked out of bounds where it easily could’ve been a turnover had the defense been able to recover it.

Hate that a loss still hurts, but it does. I told somebody the other day that I’m in my early 40’s now & I don’t have the same buffer for lost seasons like this anymore😅. Here we are again, before February

Have to keep Melo and Kiyan for the NIL and public support but I am not going to Melo to get his input on any coaching decision I am making the best decision for Syracuse long term not short term
I disagree with this big time. Melo knows nothing about current college coaches who would be in the running. If we go with his input, we’ll end up with an NBA guy like Mike Woodsen. Wildhack needs to hire the best coach available this offseason. If we lose Kiyan, ce la vei.
