BC postgame thoughts

Why did Kingz only take 12 shots?

This is the kind of thing about Autry of thing that drives me crazy. He was shooting great all game. Yet it seems like we ran nothing specifically to get him more looks. So the guy having his best game of the season ends up with the third most shots.

Yeah but think about this. If the player ie Kingz was better, he would just be open. And if the other players were better, they would be able to get him the ball more. So ultimately, it comes down to the players and talent just needing to be better.

Red cannot control that stuff.

Ain’t that right Dr. Bill ?

We should have a 6.5 man rotation. Betsey and .5 Souare. That’s what JB would do. Too much time on the bench today for Donnie, Kyle and Kingz.
I think you mean 6.125 man rotation. Souare is a 5 minute a game player.

Yes, just those two. Either coach and we’ve made a good hire. Schertz is the better coach out of the two, but either are significant upgrades over Red. Skinn might be more attainable for us, and possibly a slightly better fit given his Mid-Atlantic presence
Skinn to Georgetown would make sense

Get the person coaching the local hs to finish the season coaching. This is a disgrace on the university and the fan base. Make a statement.

Heck let Fran finish the season as the coach
Just starting to read the post game thoughts. Only thing to reply to this is that Fran quit on his season, not the best choice to finish the bb season.

This isn’t the worst loss I’ve ever seen in Cuse history, I think DePaul is in my opinion although there are others that are on my stink o meter. However this really crushed our chances to make the tournament and now we will need some big time wins to get back. While some on here are saying it’s over there are still plenty of opportunities to make the tournament this year if we can rally the troops. I’m not sure where we go with this after the season. I like Autry and like that he has been with Syracuse for so long but you could of at
Least follow at the end of the game and held the lead if BC had made their free throws.

This isn't even close to the worst loss we've seen. We aren't good.

Donnie’s handle is also pretty weak; I think there were 2 or 3 times he tried to face up and drive a guy and lost the ball.
Yup. He looked more like the pre injury Donnie yesterday with his handle. He was automatic when we got it to him on the block, but we continued to give it to him at the 3pt line

This is one of the most depressing games I've ever experienced...and I've experienced a lot over the years.

From getting outplayed down the stretch...to missed free throw...to idiotic turnovers...to failing to foul and giving up game-tying 3 instead...to the power OT BC played.
This one had it all.

Play like this against Duke, UNC and maybe a few others will result in 20 point losses.

There will be no NCAA tournament this year...barring an amazing turnaround or a 2006 GMAC-like run in the ACC tourney.
Problem is the Orange have no GMAC this year.

Is it possible to just do yesterday over? It was awful in every way.

I am not done regurgitating. Will make an additional post in a few minutes.
It took way longer than expected, but I am done regurgitating, so I will make a few post-game comments.

This game may mark the line in the sand in terms of us not being able to afford to lose another game that we are expected to win and still go dancing. In fact, we may need at least one big upset win to offset this loss.

Despite our previous good play the several previous games, I posted after every one that I saw the number of George TOs as ominous. Yesterday the premonition was fulfilled. How does a player who is supposed to be a plus PG get SEVEN TOs !!! To make matters worse, our best player decided to match that number. Freeman had the game in his hands to win and then missed that critical FT. Overall between those two I never saw so many lame passes.

The FT shooting was also only 64%, though many of those misses came from Starling and Kyle, both of whom have weird FT shooting techniques.

Only two bench points. Betsy reverted to the mean after his spectacular game and White and Anthony are basically works in progress.

The only bright spot was Kingz who really had a fantastic game. I wish i could say this was a break out moment for him, but like many of our adequate average to good, but not great players, I suspect he will have his ups and downs moving forward.

Donnie can be counted on for his 20 and 10 efforts, though yesterday his negatives as discussed above were costly. JJ appears to be improving his consistency, and he had a solid 12 points, 5 boards, and 3 steals.

Dont know why we could only find Kyle for 5 shots, two of which came early, so really only 3 more shots over the last 30 something minutes. BC had nobody to match his athleticism and we couldnt take advantage.

This was a game we lead almost all the way, we had opportunities but could never quite break it open. It was a no excuse loss. When we went to OT I had a bad feeling our goose was cooked, and so it was.

As for Red, I dont know what to say. The team play like they were over-confident and didnt take BC seriously enough. Maybe that is on him. I didnt think Kiyan deserved 17 minutes, but in the end is it his fault that our PG and our best player decided to telegraph every pass and that our best player and best FT shooter missed the one that would have sealed the deal ?? I just dont know.

EDIT - Worst thing Red did, as pointed out by other posters in different thread, was probably to not foul them on their last possession before the three point shot that tied.

How is it not partially the coach’s fault?!

Is it Red's fault when someone misses a shot, too? Come on.
Making a terrible pass is not something from the playbook.
Red's got his shortcomings, but the team has been playing much better lately.
