BC/WF

RPO offense with tempo like we play. Wake ran like 105 plays and they were visibly tired. First time the D was on the field THAT long. They will be in fine shape when we play them.

We don’t have a freshman QB. That’s why Eric needs to be healthy.

They will challenge for the Atlantic. They don't have a weakness.

They have weaknesses. C’mon. For 1 their special teams gave up a punt block for a TD and missed the extra point. Brown missed on a lot of throws. Their D got gashed by Wake. They are predictable on O.

They are good. But let’s not put them in the Playoff just yet

AJ Dillon is so good. Makes me angry.
AJ Dillon is so good. Makes me angry.
Doesn't make me angry, in the least. There are folks on this board that decry, what they call "meathead" football. I can't blame them, based on their experience. Dillon is what happens when you get a good back, behind a good Oline. They are going to win 8 plus.

BC's line is more straight ahead, often engages in straight up drive blocks, and Dillons hole is pre-assigned. Very much, pro-style. For us, we often engage in zone blocking, where the linemen take a lateral step, as opposed to a forward step, and push the block sideways(surrendering power for speed), with the hope of opening a hole from the movement.. Shanahan's Bronco's were the best I've ever seen, at this(brutal). Other times we RPO block, where the linemen don't know if the run is coming, so by design, they have to pull up before they are 3 yards downfield.

Each require a back with a certain skill set... A mauler can hit the hole...(Dillon) For us, we need vision.. Howard is a Mauler. He just goes, but still needs development. I don't even think he waits to see the hole in a ZBS, he just hits it... (kind of a good thing - for now). Every report I heard out of camp, was that Abdul Adams, is really, really good... Seems like he works very well, in a zone block scheme(has vision)...

I MUCH prefer a straight up power block, from the Oline. As shown tonight, it scares a defense to death, and a mediocre QB like Brown can throw for 5TD's, because the defense can't beat the Oline on the run... As a football lover first, I really like that. Even HCDB said this week, if you can't stop the run, you can't win. It's the most dangerous weapon on the field, IF you can do it effectively.

I would LOVE to see us employ some old school drive blocks, next year.. (We don't do that, now). The Oline gets to crush the little b@stards that have been pissing them off, and frankly, those are every o-linemans favorite block... Howard is VERY well suited to this style... Adams may be suited for ZBS... They are our #1 and #2, next year, IMO.

I'm all for mixing it up... But I'd love for the Oline to have another scheme to draw from... While the ZBS/RPO are important to the scheme, a team like WMU simply made sure that someone clogged the gap, regardless of what the Oline did, on the run... (we don't push forward, by design) There are solutions, to ZBS/RPO teams... There are never solutions to an Oline that simply takes you out of the play...

*** Full disclaimer. I'm a line Junky. For the last 30 years, I never watch the ball, just the line. When it goes in the air? OK. Then I watch the ball...

Ya know, gotta give Addazio some props. An old school , meathead coach that still plays that way, recruits that way, plays D that way...but has incorporated some RPO on offense and will either smash you in the mouth with Dillon or take a shot deep. Its unique...
i love meathead football. he has done a great job there.

BC is all Dillon and one demsional. AJ will get his yards but we can beat them if we are healthy at the end of the year.
seems to me that i read on someones board that we are one dimensional. we will see

Was a Dino target. Spurned us for BC. I think we were among his finalists. I think it came down to us and them at end.

Did Devito already commit to SU before Brown made his decision or possibly Dino knew TD was going to the Hill?

I saw a lot of talent in this game, just when you thought Louisville and FSU were "down" the others step it up.

Look everyone loves a system when it works. They are in year 4 of Addazzio and hit on a big time back and have one of the most experienced OL in CFB. This is peak Addazzio. And they deserve credit.

But Dillon ran 30+ times last night. Can he stay healthy? I don’t think it’s sustainable.

Wake runs a similar system to us (thieves) and were down a TD, kicking an onside kick after running 100 plays. Their freshman QB threw 2 INT. They were right there.

I’m not ready to crown this team. I think they get eaten alive by Clemson and Dillon will be banged up by our game.

Not sure why the narrative became that Addazio is a "bad" coach. He may be a more pro style coach but so wasn't Tom Coughlin who was a miracle worker at BC. Addazio is a damn good coach and has his guys in place now. Just like Dino will have.

Dillon got hurt when he was at Lawrence Academy which ultimately faded Michigan. He's a HUGE talent who came to BC through that injury. He'll play on Sundays. He may get beat up by the time we play BC. I'm just hoping BC is bowl eligible but not playoff hunting so the game means less to them than us.

They are gonna compete with Clemson at home. They are stout. Not sure why we are trying to convince ourselves otherwise. They are the second best team in the ACC division

Not to mention Wake was playing their backup QB. I think BC has a good squad but they haven't seen anything yet. They still have to play State, VT, Miami, Clemson, FSU, and Cuse.

I don’t think Addazzio is a bad coach. I think his system and philosophy is limited. I didn’t think they’d even be this good, but a once in a liftime back and the senior OL they have make it all happen. Brown has shown to be capable, which was their one big question coming into the season.

They are stout. And thin. If Dillon goes down, they’ll be in trouble. They also gave up a lot of yards to Wake.

Just pump the brakes a bit

You really want to be throwing stones at a team that is overly reliant on one player? Really?

I'm not ready to crown them, either. I just really enjoy when an oline can consistently execute. If Dillon goes down, I think they still manage some production.

I like when a team like 'bama uses both ZBS and man oline scheme's.. A little trickery with the ZBS, and then straight ahead power, with the man..

Dumb post. Just because we are dependent on Eric doesn’t make them less dependent on Dillon.

I wasn’t throwing stones or even comparing them to us. Just pointing out an obvious weakness. If you’d ask me about ours, that we be second after our shaky D.

Lame. No ones going to compare to how HCDB commands a locker room.

I know Dillon ran 30 times, but his impact is also what has unleashed that passing game. AJ Brown has the arm, and with Jeff Smith and that TE he has a couple of great targets.

I don't think their offense has a weak spot.

Their defense has weak spots but they make up for it with a strong pass rush. Helps get them out of trouble.

Special Teams will cost them a game. Almost did last night.

I was really impressed with them. I don't think there's depth though at the skill positions. That's another thing that might bring them down.

I say all of this as someone who loathes BC.

He committed here and then chose BC after Shafer left and Babers came in.

He never committed to SU. He's from here in Central Jersey. Madei Williams was his QB coach which made many feel that SU had the inside track. He committed to BC pretty early, May 22nd. Supposedly, he was SU's top QB target. He didn't take an SU official, but did come for the spring game. SU made his top 5, but picked BC 10 days after he got his offer from Cuse.
