Beat FSU for rainy NC

I live in Columbia, SC. Not really a problem. If no power, then I'll just watch the replay on espn watch later. Not like anyone around me will know who won as they'll be without power too. One of the good things is that espn watch doesn't give away the final scores of games when you go through replays.

Who knows when I’ll be able to catch the game. I’m at work in Jacksonville and sent my family to Charlottesville 2 days ago (along with 90% of our spoilable food). Boarded a few windows, moved items to the center of the house, cut down suspicious branches (and burned them and other yard waste to keep them from becoming projectiles), took videos of our belongings, and flipped all my breakers except for my A/C. Hopefully trees won’t hit my house just north of Wilmington and I have an intact house to go back to on Sunday or Monday. Hopefully the roads are clear enough that is so I can make the 20 mile trek.

That said, a Cuse win I can eventually watch would be nice

Good Luck. I'll say a prayer for you.

Just curious -- does the hurricane effect FSU's flight plans at all? Is it possible they are coming a day early?

Not sure how it would, pilots will just navigate west or east of the storm. Come on, this is air travel.

I’m installing one next month. What brand is yours?

I bought a home last year that was wired with a natural gas power generator. Its a 10KW Generac unit. Its not a whole home generator, only some of the circuits. All the lights, sump pump, and one outlet in each room. I had it "tuned up" by an electrician shortly after we moved. Went a whole year before we lost power, but have had it turn up twice in the last two months. The Automatic transfer switch is nice.

Def worth the money if you can swing it.

Unfortunately it isn't the battery. And of course no available technicians with the storm approaching. So back to the old days of preparation for us. Containers filled with drinking water and tubs filled for toilets. This is what happens when you are on well and septic.
Sorry about that, new spark plug(s) might do it if they have become corroded and your system uses them. You might be able to just take them out and clean them up. Anything more serious and you would need that tech. How long.

We have narrowed it down to it probably being the solenoid.

10-15 KW really is all most people need. We had one that size in our last house. They are great for extended loss of power. Really the most expensive part is the wiring and the circuit panel, not the generator. We have a 30KW but it is "whole house"...Heat/AC, well, sump, kitchen appliances, lights...and of course satellite.

Stay safe kids...we enjoy having y'all around.

As for the generator, do you guys put stabil into it to keep the gas fresh? Drain it and have new gas ready?

Ours is connected to our natural gas line. Maintenance is like a car...battery, oil, oil filter and air filter. Actually it is a GM engine.

aghh yeah i forgot, our HVAC is on it as well. The only inconvenience is the circuit our coffee maker is on isnt on the generator, so one am w lost power, i didnt have coffee ready when i came downstairs. #firstworldproblem

We just moved from Jacksonville last year, luckily. Good luck to you and God Bless.

Allen Iverson getting hurricane ready at my Publix. Stocking up on Digiorno’s. He looked confused, like he had never been grocery shopping before.

The heavy rain bands/wind will reach us later today. Hopefully my power will stay on so that I can watch the game and enjoy y'alls' company in this thread.

Where are you at? I live outside Raleigh in Garner and power has been off since 4:00 yesterday afternoon.

I'm in Hillsborough and have been about 20 North of the storm for about 24 hours. Still have power

North of Charlotte here. Breezy and light rain so far here. Hoping to get through till tomorrow with power.
Hasn’t it been downgraded to the U (tropical depression)? Regardless, stay safe y’all in the vicinity and (hopefully) enjoy the game.

The problem is we could get 10+ inches of rain. If the ground is saturated and the wind picks up these scrub pines will come down along with the power lines.
