Berry Buxton getting in the work this offseason

He'll be an important cog, in what is currently an inexperienced CB group. Provides depth / experience at both CB and S.

Berry is playing safety. He missed the bowl game in his hometown because of injury. He had surgery during the winter and missed most of spring ball while recovering.

He had five starts in 2024 and should be in the mix to start at safety in 2025 with Chestnut and Grant (Star). But Martin (continues to improve since he transferred in from Nebraska in 2023), McDaniels (young [RS-Fr] and long [6'3"), Perry (steady and dependable) and Long (undersized, but very aggressive) all played a ton of reps in the spring while Buxton and Grant were out and should also be in the mix at safety/Star this season.

Berry is a great young man. Very smart and very personable. Earned his bachelor's degree in economics from the Maxwell School at Syracuse. Currently working on a master's degree at Syracuse (MBA?).

His younger brother plays DB at San Diego State.

I wonder if Buxton has any eligibility remaining because he spent two years at Juco in California. Anyone know this?

Good luck to Perry, as well!

Didn’t they say juco guys years didn’t count. Pretty sure that’s how we get Mark Petry to come back even though he was out of eligibility.

Most of Dino's JC recruits failed or transferred out... nice to see Berry make it and be able to help the team.

He was one of the late, late JUCO adds of the 2023 class after Dino had numerous decommits and basically whiffed on closing out the class. All of the others are gone and didn’t really make much of an impact but he’s really surprised. Excited to see what he does this year.
