Best ACC team?

Clemson was not that good this year. They used to be loaded with playmakers on offense. Ironic them and Alabama seem to be going down the same road. Both powerhouse programs that used to be flush with skill players. Ryan Williams is a freak for Bama, but outside him, Bama is mid at best on offense. Same with Clemson , but they’re in even worse shape. Dabo’s refusal to hit the portal and deal with NIL is going to lead to a potential Boeheim situation in a few years.
I agree with your points. Davo has concluded he will need to play the NIL game. I would not expect Clemson to drop off any further for a while.

Well clearly we need a playoff within conferences now, at least 4 teams.
2 team championship game not enough.

SMU vs SU
Clemson vs Miami
but then Duke, lville, GT get left out

lol
but seriously
I kinda like this approach.

I kinda like this approach.
It started out as sarcasm. But by the time I was done typing I was all for it.
Especially when schedule difficulty within the league can vary fairly dramatically.
Those games would be sooo much more entertaining than the average bowl.

In fact, squash traditional bowl format. Make the weird pop tart eat me bowl an ACC semifinal.
Im just brainstorming now but the way it is currently is not right.
At least that would make the games more interesting and less players would opt 1out with playoff potential on the lîne.

The challenge is finding the McCords, who the factories screw up with. They're not losing the guys that are studs from the get go, so most of the guys we get from the portal will be cast offs from the factories that didn't reach their potential or were always a rung or two below what the factories keep. It's why Fran said he's going to be selective in the portal. He knows we're not stealing the first rounders from the teams we want to beat and is more confident in his ability to find them in high school and then keep them once they're here. Look at his portal haul from last year. We were elated over it, and it certainly was integral to our success this year, but where are those guys going to be drafted?
Excellent post - evaluating castoffs is the key to success. FSU wooed DJ, we wooed Kyle.

the SU"s of the world are going to lose players every year - replacing them with castoffs is going to be the key to sustained success.
