No love for The Express? What kind of Cuse forum is this?!

The problem with The Express is that if you know the real story you can be put off by all the inaccuracies in the movie. The Express cost $40 million and grossed $10 million so it is hard to say t is the best. I liked it even with its Hollywood hokum.

At the High School I coach at, we had a night last season where we bought the JV/Varsity players pizza and watched the football movie "Facing the Giants". Don't watch it. If there was a thread for WORST football movie of all time, that better be in every post.

For the record, anyone who didn't answer Wildcats (and only one person did), you all got the answer wrong. Sorry.

Best individual football play in a movie? Last Boy Scout, when the guy takes out a gun and clears himself a path to the end zone. All the speed in the world at linebacker can't stop that.

How about Brian's Song ... about Brian Piccolo and Gayle Sayers.

Also if you think The Express was ruined because it was a bogus revision of what actually happen, you'll have to absolutely hate "Remember the Titans". It was untrue in just about every aspect. It's the way Hollywood wished it had happened.

Brian's Song was pretty close to what happened.

The Program by far, seems to be the most realistic portrayal of college football if you take out the hollywood ending.

For God's sake. Knute Rockne All American. Win one for the gipper........

How about Tom Cruise in "All the Right Moves" and "Jerry Maguire". Both very solid flicks.

But, The Longest Yard is by far the best football movie of all times. (and don't ask if I mean the first one or the second one).

BTW, could Top Gun be considered a Volleyball movie.

You mean to tell me that the Virginia championship game wasn't decided on an 80 yard reverse on the final play? With the opposing coach yelling "cover deep?" (because when you're up by 4 and the opponent has to go 80 yards in one play, you typically just want to cover the short passes).

Seemed realistic to me.

Disney did such a good job with Miracle. Remember the Titans, not so much.

I loved the scene in The Express where Ernie's family was watching the Cotton Bowl in Elmira, NY outside on their front porch.

I don't know. Jim Brown seems to be buying it so I pick this

Brian Song , Rudy.

There is a documentary on Ernie (probably saw it on ESPN) that much better captures Davis than The Express.

The only thing that would have better is if it were storming, the TV went out, and Pops started screaming "damn you Direct TV!"

I haven't watch Brian's Song since I was a kid...I wonder if it would stand up to the test of time? Some old movies from the 70's/80's when watch now look really cheesy and stupid.

It's dated for sure and it as a made-for TV-movie to begin with and that certainly adds to its dated feel... but I still think it was a great one.

I can't watch a Matthew McConnaughney movie without picturing this.

Now that you mention it Dazed and Confused does have a football backstory and deserves consideration.
