I'm sure this has been talked about before, but it's worth talking about again. Clearly Tyler is our best ball handler, but after that, I really think it may be CJ. Why not experiment with this lineup? It brings the length to the top of the zone that we are missing. And it's not like CJ's 3 point shooting is a step down from Trev's... I know Jim won't start this lineup due to the fact he likes having some fire power off the bench, but who wouldn't want to see this team in there when it matters most?

I don't believe CJ has played 1 second of defense at the top of the zone and I highly doubt he will during his Senior season. Cooney is looking more and more like he is ready to have a nice season. Substitute him for Rak/Baye pending who is having a better game between the 2 bigs

I agree. However, technically, CJ did play a few minutes at the 2 at the beginning of last season when JB was tinkering with the lineup. CJ and James both played some minutes at the 2 in a couple early-season games, but that was it.

Any line up without Cooney (and CJ to be sure) cannot be our best line up.

Putting your best rebounder at guard is like putting your best three point shooter in the post.

If Roberson or Rak were solid to hit 4-5 shots from mid high post every other game, or even start 4-5 of their scoring drives from there every other game I could see it overwhelming opponents for a few minutes. Especially ones with spot up sg's who don't drive so much and could be contained by CJ defensively. Rak and Grant would be able to rebound almost equally, if not as strong as CJ + Rak/Grant.

With Rak and Dajuan just being low post scorers, and Tyler Roberson having little to no offense though, it loses any reason to try it.

I'm not sure that it is worth talking about but if what you want is more length at the top of the zone, you should keep your fingers crossed in hopes that MikeG proves to be a capable PG and gets paired with BJ or Buss with his freakishly long arms. Neither scenario is likely to happen but under no circumstances do we want CJ playing the 2.

It's indisputable that McIntyre, Fair and Grant are the 3 must haves, even though 2 of the 3 are still unproven commodities.

I'd still wager on Cooney over the long haul, but I think we're in store for some real stinkers from him from time to time. Up front, I'd go with Keita. You know what you're going to get with him, whereas I question Coleman's intellect and Xmas's desire.

McIntyre could gobble up a bunch of minutes with a little work on the handle.
