At what point do we need to go with the better offensive players? Obviously Coleman didn't get any time the 2nd half because JB doesn't trust him on the defensive end, but at what point do you just have to let him play? Last night could have been a perfect opportunity after a career 1st half. Don't get me wrong I understand why the move is being made, and I don't trust him defensively either. But just how much more is Rak and Baye giving us? Last night both were pretty ineffective and the way DC was playing it could have been a great learning experience while still having a good chance to win. He is just too strong on the offensive glass, and by far the best offensive center. Being as limited as we are on the offensive end this season this move may need to be made at some point.
That also brings up the 2 freshman, Roberson and BJ. Again I can't say i'm surprised I didn't expect either to play that much, but I am pretty shocked they both got DNP's. I really don't see it getting any better this season either. They are both firmly stuck behind CJ, and Grant. In close games there is no way either will be out of the game in the 2nd half. The best opportunity to try and steal an offensive spark would be in the 1st half, but again was shocked by the double DNP. I was trying to figure out ways to get Roberson minutes, but as completely stumped. CJ is playing 35-38 mins/g, and Grant isn't far behind. The best bet would to give Roberson the token start the 4 gets, and either take out Rak or DC depending on what your looking for that game (off/def). Regardless Grant is coming in within 4 or 5 mins, and that strategy is shot. This is also the main reason why I thought it would be beneficial to give BJ a red shirt. I guess I can understand not doing it because at least he gets the experience traveling with the team for road games, but he is stuck squarely in the back of the numbers game right now.
What's everyone's thoughts on this? Is there any way you can see Roberson/BJ getting minutes?
