To clarify. it was a bad performance against a terrible team. I disagree it was the best win/performance of the year.
However, I can recognize it was probably our best performance without Starling, since we only have 2 wins without Starling. Albany and Bucknell.
It was not our best performance of the season. There were times watching it was comically bad. Even Red was exasperated by some of the poor play (such as the kickout to Bell, at the SU bench, that went out of bounds off his hands because he couldn’t catch a simple pass.). Poor shooting again, sloppy again. It was just against a really bad team so we won.
The same of which can be said of just about every game this year. We turn the ball over indiscriminately [without looking, this might have been our third consecutive game of 20 turnovers], we can't shoot, we seem inept defensively, etc. Those criticisms could be levied every game.
Youngstown State -- we could quite easily have lost at home [and probably should have] had JJ not gone off for ~30 in the 2nd half / OT, and if Lampkin hadn't nearly gotten a triple double. Awful.
Bottom line: we stink.
